Default 'Musiex' Gives You Music Information and Controls in a Snazzy New Interface

Whether you're using Apple's built-in iOS Music application, or a third-party music application like Spotify or Rdio, you can take advantage of a new jailbreak tweak called Musiex by iOS developer s1ris.

This tweak allows you to take advantage of a snazzy new interface for seeing information about the music that you're playing and a way of controlling it, as shown above. The interface, shown above, resembles a notification banner. It is summoned by using an Activator action of your choice, and swiping up or pressing the Home Button closes the interface. If you tap and hold on the album artwork in the Musiex interface, it will launch the application that is playing music.

The interface includes information about the song, such as the album artwork, the name of the song, the artist of the song, a scrubber for moving yourself at any point in the song, and if you swipe to the left, you'll find controls for play, pause, next, and previous, as well as loop options, and shuffle options (some controls limited only to Apple's Music application and not third-party music applications).

These are the same information and controls that you get in Control Center, but they actually look much nicer. You can use a jailbreak tweak like CCHide to remove the duplicate controls from Control Center.

Musiex is fully-customizable. It adds a preferences pane to your Settings application where you can get your hands dirty with all of the different options:

Here, you'll be able to assign the tweak an Activator action of your choice, configure the view that always opens when you launch Musiex, disable opening Notification Center when Musiex is open, and choose whether you want tap button controls or gesture controls for your music. There is also a pane dedicated to theming Musiex the way that you want it to look, such as the text color, background color, and opacity.

If you would like to give Musiex a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository for 99 right now. It requires iOS 7 and does not work with the iPad.
