Default 'Aslock' Adds More Functionality to the SpotLight Launch Gesture in iOS 7

In iOS 7, SpotLight search is accessed by pulling down on your application icons. Whether or not you use SpotLight is something you'll have to decide for yourself, but whether you do or not, you can take advantage of a neat new jailbreak tweak called Aslock by iOS developer Cunstuck.

Aslock lets you use the SpotLight swipe gesture in iOS 7 for multiple things. You will still be able to open SpotLight with it, but depending on how you treat the gesture, you can also open your multitasking gesture or lock your device using the same gesture.

For example, you can pull down on your Home Screen application icons only slightly and wait a few seconds to open SpotLight search. You can even pull down very far and lock your device, or you can pull down and then without letting go of the display, pull back up again to open the multitasking App Switcher.

Aslock can be configured from the new preferences pane in the Settings application:

The first option you will find here is the ability to enable or disable using the SpotLight gesture to lock your device. You'll also find an option to trigger locking the device immediately after pulling down and configuring a trigger length for allowing the device to discern whether you're trying to lock the device or open SpotLight.

Aslock is a nice way for those with broken sleep buttons to easily lock their device. It also makes for a great way to make one gesture up to three times more useful. If you would like to give the tweak a try, it's available right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository for 99. It does require iOS 7 to be installed.
