Default App Store to Bring App Previews to Potential App Customers

On Monday at WWDC 2014, Apple announced iOS 8 and OS X 10.10 Yosemite. In addition, they've been showing off a number of new features for Health, Parental Control, and even for Developers.

One of the major new features that developers will be able to take advantage of in the App Store are the new App Previews. What these will allow developers to do is add small video previews of their applications to the App Store, rather than just screenshots, so that potential application buyers can truly see if an application does what they want it to do.

These video previews will show up inline with the screenshots in the App Store previews, as shown above.

A play button appears on any App Previews and can be tapped on to start playing the preview. Users can still swipe over to see additional screenshots of the application if the App Preview doesn't show what the user was looking for.

App Previews are sure to give developers a great way to show off a specific feature of their application(s) that just can't be shown in screenshots alone.

So what? Does that mean it's not a feature we should have?

I think this is definitely a feature that we should have.

Agreed, of course, but should have come several years ago. It is slow progress we see.
