Default Official Release of Apple's 8GB iPhone 5C in India

Apple has added a cheaper version of the iPhone 5c since introducing the 16GB and 32GB variants last fall. However, the cheaper iPhone 5c with only 8GB of storage, is offered only in a number of non-US markets around the world. The reason Apple released an 8GB iPhone 5c was that it offered LTE (unlike the iPhone 4s) in markets where faster networks were desired and pricing was more attractive. Just some weeks ago, The Times of India announced that Apple was introducing the iPhone 5c to iPhone buyers in India- and more recently, Apple has officially introduced the cheaper iPhone as expected and rumored in India.

While the phone’s MRP is Rs 37,500, Apple is offering a cash discount of Rs 4,000. This brings down the phone’s price to Rs 33,500. Apple is also giving a case worth Rs 2,000 with the phone. However, Apple informs that it’s a limited period offer.
When comparing prices, the 16GB iPhone 5c sells for Rs 41,900 with a Rs 2,100 cash rebate, costing the phone Rs 39,800. According to The Times, Apple has included a case with the 8GB iPhone 5c, which is a strategy we have yet to encounter in the U.S. The company does not have an Apple Store yet in India, so Apple devices are sold to supported resellers.

So we discontinue the models in the US, and then ship the rest of our stock to India. Anything for a buck I guess.
