Default 'ScreenPainter' Allows You to Annotate Your Screenshots Before Saving Them

Have you ever wished that there was a way to quickly write on or draw something on your screenshots before sending them to somebody? A new free jailbreak tweak called ScreenPainter is now available in Cydia by iOS developer Sassoty that will let you annotate your screenshots before you save them to your Camera Roll.

The tweak is perfect for showing someone how to do something, because you can easily make it obvious what it is that needs to be tapped on, or what to do next.

The way the tweak works is simple. When you take a screenshot, you will be able to begin drawing on the display to annotate it the way that you would like. When you're finished drawing, you can press the Home Button and you will get a pop up menu that lets you choose what to do with the screenshot. You will be able to do any of the following:

    • Save it to your Camera Roll
    • Copy it to your Clipboard
    • Both save to Camera Roll and copy to Clipboard
    • Continue editing the screenshot
    • Save the screenshot to your Camera Roll and continue editing it
    • Copy the screenshot to your Clipboard and continue editing it
    • Do both save to the Camera Roll and copy to the Clipboard and continue editing it
    • Delete the screenshot

The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure the tweak's options to your liking:

From here, you can enable or disable the tweak on demand, configure the brush settings, and configure the screen flash settings. The annotation brush's size and color can be adjusted to your liking, and the screen flash color and opacity can both be adjusted.

It's worth mentioning that the tweak works with all 32-bit and 64-bit iOS 7 devices, including iPhones, iPod touches, and iPads. If you would like to give it a try, it's available right now for free in Cydia's BigBoss repository.

One warning though, don't try to take multiple screenshots at once. Make sure you finish editing the first screenshot before you take another, or you may have to reboot your iOS device to get control over your screen again.

Can I use this tweak to annotate photos already in my camera roll?

It literally allows you to edit screenshots. That is exactly what it does.
