If you do any complex text editing tasks on iOS, then you might be able to benefit from a new free jailbreak tweak called SlideCut by iOS developer r_plus.

With this tweak installed, you will be able to easily access text editing tasks by holding down on the space bar and then dragging over to a letter on the keyboard. Certain keys on the keyboard have been assigned certain tasks, including the following:

  • X: Cut
  • C: Copy
  • V: Paste
  • A: Select All
  • Z: Undo
  • Y: Redo
  • Q: Start line
  • P: End line
  • B: Beginning of Document
  • E: End of Document
  • S: Select word
  • H: Move to Left
  • J: Move to Down
  • K: Move to Up
  • L: Move to Right

The tweak is very easy to use and it makes a world of difference in text editing; especially in large word processor applications like Pages, where you might have to do a lot of these tasks constantly.

If you would like to give SlideCut a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository. The tweak is compatible with iOS 5 through iOS 7 and doesn't have any options to configure.
