At the end of April, we showed you a free jailbreak tweak called KeyShortcut by iOS developer switchpwn. The tweak allowed you to tap and hold on certain keys on the iOS 7 keyboard to perform certain text-editing actions, such as copy, paste, and select all.

The same developer has just released KeyShortcut Pro, which is a supercharged version of the free tweak with even more options and features that users will enjoy taking advantage of.

If you do a lot of text editing on iOS, then you might really have a lot to gain from this tweak. You can configure keys on your keyboard so that when you tap and hold on them, you can:

  • Select all
  • Cut
  • Copy
  • Paste
  • Undo
  • Redo
  • Select the last word
  • Move to the end of the document
  • Move to the beginning of the document

In addition, you will be able to have up to 11 text shortcuts. You can type in up to 11 custom strings of text and assign them to numbers of the keyboard (even the space bar) so that when you tap and hold on a number on the iOS keyboard, the string of text that you had assigned to that key will instantly become typed out automatically for you.

For example, if we put, "I love reading ModMyi!" under the number 1 in the preferences pane, and then we went to tap and hold on the "1" key when editing text, then "I love reading ModMyi!" would be automatically typed out for us.

All of these options can be configured from the Settings application in the tweak's preferences pane:

There is a respring button in the preferences pane that you will need to use whenever you make changes to the preferences pane.

If you're interested in giving KeyShortcut Pro a try, it's available right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository for just 99.
