Default 'YouTube Pro' Supercharges Your YouTube Application at No Cost

If you're a user of the popular free YouTube application for iOS, and you want to add some useful features to the application without having to shell out out the money for YouTube add-ons like ProTube or YourTube, then check out a new free jailbreak tweak called YouTube Pro by iOS developer elias.

Unlike the paid tweaks ProTube and YourTube, YouTube Pro doesn't offer video downloading. On the other hand, it does offer a number of other features that plenty of users are sure to enjoy having. Some of those features include:

    • Enabling the white iOS 7 keyboard in the application all the time
    • Disabling the voice search button to prevent accidental taps
    • Opening Web links in Mobile Safari instead of Google Chrome
    • Keeping any playing music from pausing when you open the YouTube application
    • Changing the video playback quality while on a cellular network
    • Blocking YouTube ads

YouTube Pro adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can manage all of the individual features:

Here, you will be able to enable or disable all of the features listed above. You won't have to respring after making changes to the preferences pane, but you should close YouTube from the App Switcher and re-open it again to ensure that your changes take effect.

The developer notes that YouTube Pro works best with version 2.5.1 of the YouTube application, although the features appear to work just fine with the current version of the application (2.6.0) just fine. If you would like to give YouTube Pro a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository. The tweak requires that you have YouTube installed in order for you to take advantage of all of its features. Notably, 64-bit devices are not yet supported, but support is coming soon.

    Name: YouTube Pro

Doesn't change the keyboard on iPad. Nor did it block ads. And voice search was still present. But it did let me stay listening to music while in the YouTube app until it played which honestly to me is worth keeping the tweak even if the other stuff doesn't work. This is on 1 gen iPad mini with 7.0.6. Would love to see the other features work for me though. And maybe add the ability to let youtube play in the background so I won't need another tweak for that. That would be awesome. Biggest perk of all though is that atleast it's free. Hope he adds more features. Great tweak though.

ProTube? Really? Has that even been updated for iOS 7?

No. It most likely never will. I tried contacting the developer about it and never got any form of response so I'm going to say that it isn't going to get one. Same goes for 3G/LTE HQ No Ads. I tried contacting that tweak's developer and there hasn't been an update for the last couple YouTube updates so that is presumably dead as well.

However, I can't wait for this to make it's way to 64-Bit. I installed it the moment it dropped because I've been waiting around a week for this tweak to drop. This dev needs to keep up the great work.

Are you talking about a redesign of ProTube or it being compatible with iOS 7?? I have ProTube installed on my 5s, 4S, and iPad 2, and it is working fine for me on iOS 7.0.6. It let me download some videos last night.

Can anyone confirm if there are any true no-ad solutions for YouTube on iOS 7? That is my only gripe with any application, ads! Especially when streaming videos, as if data isn't precious enough already.

Not anymore. All YouTube based tweaks are outdated and most not going to be updated. The best bet is if you have a 5C or below is to download this tweak. If not then you'll have to wait for this to update for 5S and the latest YouTube update.
