Somehow my personal hotspot has worked natively since I got my replacement iPhone and I'm on the old ***** unlimited At&T plan.

All I know is last month I hit the 5GB cap on my unlimited and got throttled. I can understand getting throttled but what they throttle you too is very insulting! Usually getting about 30Mbps and got throttle to .2-.4Mbps. At that little speed you might as well just turn off my data. FaceTime wasn't choppy and other apps took forever to load up. What good is having unlimited data when you can't even use it or throttled to like dial up speeds.

That big of a jump is crazy. I still don't see why verizon can't bring back the unlimited if there are certain people that still are able to have it. Why charge per gb when it's not how they are getting charged for the tower usage. Gotta love America.

The logic of apn page losing settings when you back out would seem to dictate that TetherMe will not be able to overcome this hurdle....seems like a sad day for tethering.... And seems like jailbroken 7.0.6 is the end of the road on all my devices.

AFAIK TetherMe doesn't change the APN settings. It re-routes the data through the cellular data APN.

It does change the tether apn to the phone data. You can edit it yourself also.

But if **** like that Net Neutrality **** gets passed then it'll be even worse. We will have to pay for sections of the legitimate internet. You want Facebook, well you'll have to buy the social package so you can actually get to it. Oh you'd like to watch YouTube, buy this media package to get it. This is the greedy a** j** companies getting too d*** big.
Totally off topic but I can't for the life of me figure what the 3 letter word that starts with J is in the last sentence and it's bugging me.

They have an amount of DATA that has been paid for already. You seem to confuse bandwidth with data caps, you cannot exceed your allotted bandwidth simply by putting/using more devices on the line, the most you are going to do is run into your data cap faster and I would argue that doesn't happen via tethering because when you tether you are just trading surfing on your phone for another device. Do you also pay twice for your gas because you happen to need to use some for a lawnmower vs. your car? You're defending corporate greed while talking about entitlement....for an amount of data and bandwidth that was already paid for...good one Gump.

Simple answers come from simple minds. I pay for unlimited data currently. If I USE tethering at all they auto switch my plan out of the grandfathered unlimited to a data capped plan which I DID NOT SIGN AN AGREEMENT FOR. Please, keep your simple stuff in your simple head!!!
    I'm with this guy.

That's why I love my jailbreak and pay my tweaks to support them.

Whether or not your phone is unlocked would have no effect on this. You can buy an unlocked iPhone from Apple and walk it into an AT&T store and get service on it, and purchase Tethering as well. Or, AT&T can unlock your phone for you once your contract is up, and as long as you purchase Tethering service, you'd be able to use the unlocked phone that way.

What they're trying to curb is abuses of data connections with service providers who do not offer Tethering services as part of their packages, and that is tied to the network itself, which is identified by the SIM card in the phone. Yes, using a different SIM from the carrier from the one you bought your phone from requires the phone being unlocked, but there is nothing inherently wrong, illicit, or illegal in having an unlocked phone.

I pay $30 for unlimited data plus $30 for unlimited hotspot. I use 50+GB every month, but at least I'm paying for it.
