Default Apple's 'Healthbook' Believed to be Coming Soon

According to details presented across a slew of new reports Monday, Apple's long-awaited, heavily-rumored, but still unconfirmed fitness and health-tracking app called "Healthbook" is not only in the works, it's coming soon.

Sources close to its creation say the design is remarkably similar to Passbook. The "ambitious app" will be capable of some pretty astonishing feats. From monitoring general activity and a user's heart rate, to keeping tabs on blood oxygen levels and other vitals, Apple is purportedly vying to make Healthbook the new industry standard within its mHealth app classification.

Healthbook will use a card interface that surfaces information according to category. Users will be able to enter metrics pertaining to their weight, food intake, activity, and sleep habits.
What isn't clear at this point, however, is whether the app is customized for Apple's also-rumored forthcoming iWatch. Nonetheless, we're told the app will even be able to analyze "bloodwork," such as blood sugar levels as well as blood pressure.

"It is unclear how the app will source all this information in real-time — especially in the realm of blood tracking," The Verge reports, but "the app may rely on devices like the fitness-tracking headphones it recently patented, the iWatch, or an array of third-party devices like the Jawbone Up."

Speculation suggests that Healthbook could rely on Apple's M7 motion processor (which the Fitbit also uses) for tracking purposes.
