Default 'PProtect' Lets You Password Protect Your iOS Photo Streams

If you use the Photo Stream feature in iOS and want to keep your Photo Stream protected from unwanted eyes, then check out a new jailbreak tweak called PProtect by iOS developer Firemoon777.

With this tweak installed, you have the option to protect each and every one of your individual Photo Streams in iOS, and you can set your own password to be used to authenticate your way into viewing any photos in your Photo Stream in iOS.

Not only will your Photo Stream be protected in the Photos application, but also in other applications with Image Pickers. When you attempt to view images in any of your Photo Streams, you will be asked to enter your password before going any further. The tweak will even let you blur the album cover of your Photo Streams to keep it private.

The first time you launch the tweak, and you visit the preferences pane in the Settings application, you will be asked to set up a password, and then you will be asked to set up a security question. It's very important that you don't forget either of these:

At the top of the preferences pane, you can choose between leaving the Photo Stream album covers as normal album covers, or blurring. You can also enable or disable deleting Photo Streams, and enable or disable password protecting image pickers from other applications.

The tweak is meant for those that actually utilize the Photo Stream feature in iOS, so if you don't use Photo Streams in iOS, then you probably won't have a use for it. On the other hand, if you actually do use Photo Streams, then this tweak could be a handy way to keep your Photo Streams private for your own use.

If you want to give PProtect a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository for $1.99. It requires iOS 7 to be installed.

This is great, as someone who has multiple photo streams and multiple iDevices being able to set a password not to mention different passwords (yay) per stream will be extremely useful
