Default 'filmSearch' Lets You Search for Movies via IMDb Using SpotLight

In the event that you want really quick access to information about movies via IMDb, a popular movie information service, you can use a new free SpotLight add-on called filmSearch by iOS developer Kirbyk.

With this add-on installed, and with the IMDb application installed on your iOS device, you can launch SpotLight and search for a movie name, then tap on one of the search results to open the IMDb application with information about the search result that you tapped on.

In our example above, we wanted information on the new Anchorman 2 movie, so when we typed "Anchorman" into SpotLight, we saw the "Anchorman 2" search result and tapped on it. The next thing that happened was the IMDb application from the App store opened up and loaded information about the Anchorman 2 movie. It was fast and easy!

With the add-on installed, you can go to the SearchLoader preferences pane in the Settings application and find the filmSearch preferences cell to configure the add-on to your liking:

Here, you will be able to configure the search result limit. You can limit SpotLight to showing you anywhere between 1-5, 10, 15, or 20 search results on a single search.

If you want to give filmSearch a try, it's available for free in Cydia's BigBoss repository. The tweak does require iOS 7 and the IMDb application from the App Store, which is free from this App Store link.
