Default 'UnlockID' Lets You Unlock Your Mac and Auto-fill Mac Usernames/Passwords With Touch ID

We recently showed you a jailbreak tweak called iTouchSecure, which allowed you to basically use the iPhone 5s' Touch ID feature to authenticate your usernames and passwords on that iOS device, but a new jailbreak tweak called UnlockID by iOS developer barnlux has been released in Cydia that now allows you to use Touch ID on your iPhone 5s to unlock your Mac and auto-fill usernames and passwords on your Mac.

The way this tweak works is pretty simple. All you do is get close to your Mac when it's locked, unlock your iPhone 5s using Touch ID, and then the tweak uses Bluetooth to send a signal your Mac saying that you've authenticated your iPhone 5s' Touch ID, and your Mac will then unlock from the Lock Screen.

The same goes for auto-filling usernames and passwords on your Mac. If you're on the Facebook Web page, and you don't want to be bothered to type in your username and password, you can use UnlockID to save you some time. Just go to the Facebook Web page on your Mac, unlock your iPhone 5s using Touch ID, and once again a Bluetooth signal will be sent to your Mac saying that you've authenticated who you are and your username and password will be auto-filled in the Web browser for you. This also works for other Web pages, and not just Facebook.

Notably, for this to work, you'll need to install some software on your Mac. You can get the application you need from this link.

To see the tweak in action for a better idea of what it'll let you do, check out the developer's demonstration video below:

Because the tweak uses Bluetooth Low Energy, you will not notice any battery drain on your iOS device. UnlockID is compatible with OS X Mavericks, and is compatible with iOS 7.0-7.0.4; UnlockID does not work with Windows machines. UnlockID is compatible with all of the following Macs:

    • 2011 MacBook Air or later
    • 2012 MacBook Pro or later
    • 2012 iMac or later
    • 2011 Mac Mini or later
    • 2013 Mac Pro

You'll be able to enable and disable this tweak on demand from the preferences pane that is put in the Settings application. You'll also find a button to change your authorization code in the preferences pane, which is used to pair your Mac with your iOS device so that no one else can hover around you and your Mac and pose security threats.

If you want to give UnlockID a try, it's available in Cydia's ModMyi repository for $2.99.

Complete waste of money because I don't know why my MacBook Pro (mid 2012) 2.6ghz is listed in the compatible list of devices, when clearly I see on the web nothing but the same "non pairing" between the two devices complaint with NO work around. Don't go looking for support on the issue. Apparently emails to dev about problem have gone unanswered. If you are going to list devices compatible, at least R&D it on one.... then they wonder why some ppl don't support and buy licensed products. I wish there was a cracked version to try out first. I bought bioprotect and that worked..but unlockid, epic fail for not testing before hand.
