Default 'SeasonWallpaper' Lets You Animate Your Still iOS 7 Wallpaper With Seasonal Overlays

iOS 7 gives you the ability to use dynamic wallpapers rather than still wallpapers, but they're still reasonably boring. If you're looking to add something more creative to your iOS device, then check out a new jailbreak tweak called SeasonWallpaper by iOS developer Hiraku.

SeasonWallpaper, as the name suggests, will style your wallpaper depending on the season. What the tweak does is add an overlay to your existing wallpaper, as shown above. There are three overlays to choose from: Snowflakes, Flowers, and Leaves – great for Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.

When you install the tweak and you visit the Wallpaper options on your iOS 7 device, you'll find yourself with two new options under the dynamic wallpapers. One is labeled Lock Screen, which you should apply to the lock screen, and one is labeled Home Screen, which you should apply to the home screen:

You will also find a preferences pane in the Settings application, where you can configure several of your wallpaper's options:

Because the wallpapers are seasonal, you will be able to choose between snowflakes, flowers, or leaves. They are animated, and will rain from the top of your display and fall down across your screen. You can also adjust the frequency, maximum number, and transparency of the raining effects. You will need to respring your device to save your settings, so this preferences pane has a respring button to take care of your needs.

In the end, you'll get an effect similar to the developer's demonstration video below:

SeasonWallpaper looks to be a very stable way to add some customization to your iOS device that all those non-jailbreakers out there will never have. We like the flexibility that the developer gives you in the options, and the overall effect of the animations are smooth, subtle, and pretty.

If you want to give SeasonWallpaper a try, it's available for $1.99 in Cydia's BigBoss repository.

Seen a few of these dynamic wall replacements popping up recently. Mostly just replacing apples bubbles and changing the animation a little. Not really impressive.

Kinda cool, more targeted for perhaps the inexperienced users as a quick and easy tweak they can add. I like it. Should be easy to mod also.

This particular tweak has been made available for free ever since ios 1. I never even used them then.

    To those asking...

This tweak is not a battery hogger whatsoever.

I have not noticed any battery changes from before to after installing this tweak and I've been using it all day on my personal device.

As I replied above, I don't think the tweak is a battery drainer whatsoever. It's very efficient. It's not a video, but rather a user-configured dynamic animation, similar to those Apple has stock with iOS 7.

You'll really have to try it to see. But I haven't noticed a single difference before and after.
