Default WhatsApp Updated with Cross-Platform Push-to-Talk Messaging

One of the more popular universal messaging apps out there, WhatsApp, was recently updated with a new ability for iPhone users: the ability to exchange voice messages via push-to-talk. The best part about it is that the message can be received and responded to by any WhatsApp user. It doesn’t matter if they are on Android, BlackBerry, Nokia or a Windows Phone. Users just need to tap a button and begin speaking for it to work. You just “push to talk” and record your message’ Once you release the Microsoft button, the message is automatically sent. You can slide left and delete it as well.

As of right now, messages can theoretically be of an infinite length and when they are played, a blue microphone icon Is shown to inform you that your message has been listened to (or in some cases point out that you are being ignored). It’s still a cool feature that is found on some messaging apps but still not included as part of Apple’s iMessage.

Those of you who are interested in using WhatsApp can download the free app from the App Store.

    Why Android devices suck

    1.lag
    2. not all apps are compatible with all Android devices.
    3. most Android phones have pointless and stupid features.
    4. ugly UI
    5. The software you get with the phone you usually stay with. Its very hard to update the software of a Android phone.

    6. most Android phones are made out of cheap hard plastic which makes it a #$%$ phone

Example: dragging a video from the internet to the home screen is a perfect example of a pointless and stupid feature

    7. They don't have a big selection of apps.
    8. unpatched vulnerabilities (security risk)

Wow, you're retarded. I've had the iPhone since launch, had a quick stint with Android around 2010 when I destroyed the screen on my 3GS and thought I'd try Android. Got the Evo 4G and hated it. Got the iPhone 4 and got bored of iOS last year. Got the Note 2 around October. So I think I can speak pretty unbiased about the two:

    1. My Note 2 has zero lag. Battery life is far better than any iPhone.

    2. Not all apps are compatible with all iPhones, either.

    3. Better to have extra features that some people use than have limited features and be missing things people want.

    4. Debatable, and moronic really considering they're so similar. It's funny that iOS 7 is shaping up to look extremely Android-ish.

    5. LOL, no. It's MUCH easier to change the firmware of an Android phone. I liked the stock TouchWiz rom on my note, but have gone through about 6 different roms all together. I've settled on an aosp rom based off of 4.2.2, and will be getting 4.3 before Verizon (my carrier) even releases the official 4.2.2 rom for my phone.

    6. Up until the iPhone 4, iPhones were also made out of cheap plastic. My old 3GS broke and cracked at the two screws by the dock connector and I never even dropped it. Google it, it's a common problem.

    7. I haven't paid attention to this in a while, but I'm pretty sure the "app gap" is MUCH smaller now than it was originally. Sure some apps are iOS exclusive, but some are Android exclusive as well. And at least on Android if we buy an app and don't like it, we have 24 hours to get a refund.

    8. Yes, Android is more susceptible to attack, but that's what happens when you lead in marketshare. Windows is more susceptible to viruses and malware, because it has the most marketshare in the computer world.

So yeah, get your facts straight before you make yourself look like an idiot again.

^^ Thank you. I have a Note 2, but also several Apple products. Owned every iPhone until the Note 2. It's an excellent phone, and I feel, a step up overall. Sure, the iPhone feels GREAT in the hand and my mom loves how simple it is, but the Note is brilliant.

Just for a couple of points because these things are pointless really. The pointless and stupid features are usually the OEM take on android and some are useless some are great. I really liked the smart stay on the s3 which keep the screen on as long as you were looking at it.

I personally think the AOSP look is far better looking that anything else. But it's obviously a subjective point.

Yes most android phones are made out of cheap plastic but a lot of them are made cheaply with older internals to be cheap. Now some of the high end are the best looking phones out there. Name a phone that even matches the HTC One for looks? For a phone it is absolutely stunning. Again though, that's subjective.

The play store has recently overtake n the app store for apps so that point is void.

Google patched them vulnerabilities back in Feb, it's mostly the OEMs fault they haven't been sorted but, like the Jailbreaking scene, they have devs that have patched them.
