Default T-Mobile Now Offers iPhone 5 for $0 Down, Cost is Paid During Term of Contract

T-mobile U.S.A. is really taking their un-carrier status seriously. The carrier has Friday announced that several 4G LTE-capable devices can now be had for $0 down with a two-year contract. Over the course of the contract, the phone will be paid for with a monthly payment, which notably doesn’t include interest and may be a good and viable deal for many.

Apple’s 16GB iPhone 5 handset is a part of the special event (not 32 or 64GB), as well as other popular smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S4, and T-mobile U.S.A. subscribers can sign a contract to own the iPhone 5 for $0.00 down. Over the course of the 24-month commitment, the subscriber will pay $27 per month extra, on top of the carrier’s service bills, to pay for the iPhone 5 handset in full.

The event is only for a limited time. Potential subscribers have the opportunity to sign up as early as tomorrow, Saturday July 27th, but the date the window closes is unknown, as the carrier never mentioned when the event will end. Users can take advantage of the promotion, as well as the new JUMP upgrade program that the carrier announced a couple of weeks ago:

This limited-time promotion is available starting tomorrow, July 27, 2013. In addition to the promotion, customers also can take advantage of T-Mobile's groundbreaking upgrade program, JUMP!(TM), which enables them to sign up to upgrade their phones when they want, up to twice a year as soon as six months from enrollment.
T-mobile goes on to note that their 4G LTE network covers 116 metropolitan areas, and that the company aims to cover 200 of them by the end of the year. Those that don't have 4G LTE will still be able to drop down to 4G HSPA+.

So $27 a month no matter what size, 16, 32 or 64? That could be a deal!

Good deal. Yet no 32 or 64GB sizes. Also, this phone will be old news in September. To me its just another way to gain some subscribers and maybe lure some from other carriers. Good luck Tmo..youa re definitely trying to push the limits of the game.

You're going to pay full price for a phone that will be "the old model" in a couple months, and will be 3 years old by the time it's paid off.

Might as well wait 2 months and get the latest and greatest. If you can't buy it all upfront, get a 0 APR for 12 months credit card.

Haha, I wonder how many people will get suckered into this.

It seems like a good deal. Until you do the math.

+1 with the credit card option.

Radio Shack offers an iPhone 5 16gb for $0 if you trade in your old smartphone and renew your contract.

In other words they screw you into another 2 years and make $200-300avg on the full retail price of your smartphone

So the [2] by iPhone 5[2] means only the 16GB model is included, no 32GB or 64GB. That's total BS but the monthly payment would be significantly higher if they were available.

$27 x 24 is $648 for iphone 5 on 4g service. not a bad deal with $60 monthly on tmobile data plan for 550 megs. but if you go to radio shack and buy an iphone 5 on virgin mobile for $550 it only runs on 3g and you get unlimited data for $35 a month. choose wisely.

thinking about the $0 trade in old smart cellphone plans. what is the cheapest old smart cellphone you can get, that may be working, yet really cheap on ebay?

4g LTE data availability and cost per GB is still just too much on all the carriers. it should be given at 10gb per month as that will get you one movie or tv show a week, and still get you through the month.
