No, it's not. At no point, in any dimension, under any leader, is any iPhone new under $599-699. if you do not understand your subsidized plan, re-read it.

You cannot replace only the digitizer. The LCD and Digitizer are fused together. If one breaks, you need to replace the entire display. We have been forced into charging $179 for rplacements. The parts cost $100-110
mmmm unless this is new with i4 then you can replace the pieces separately, I have done it with the 3GS, all you need to do is blow dry the plastic, which will heat it up and you can rip the LCD right from it.
    Its really quite simple.

and ebay iphone LCD / digitizer, not that expensive.

Some cases offer better protection against screen cracks. Some are there just to look good and protect against scratches on the back.

And do u really think the iPhone 5 will be any less prone to glass cracks than this or any previous model?

I apologize you are incorrect. The iPhone 3g and 3GS LCD is Screwed onto the bezel in the inside of the iPhone. Once unscrewed you gently pull up and slide down the LCD out of the device. The Glass/Digitizer (not LCD) is glued to the outside Bezel and can be heated and removed and the Glass digitizer screen replaced. The iPhone 4 like the Original 2G iPhone has the LCD and Glass/Digitizer glued(fused) together as one piece. see the following link..

iphones 3gs screens are so much tougher than another iphone, i dropped my 3gs on the front like 6 times, straight to the concrete, a straight flat landing on the front with no case or nothing, never crack or scratched(which was amazing) i know the one thing that a case can never save your iphone from and thats going through a lawn mower. miss my white iphone

I tried the invisible shield and didn't like the orange peel look or it's sticky touch. I have the iwrap and it is way better for me. No orange peel and just sticky enough to hold onto.

"Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, the glass is ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever," Apple says.

I realize this might come as a shock to most, but if we look at this quote (unless it was taken out of context) nowhere does it say that the screen is 'less prone to breakage'. In fact, all it claims is that it is more scratch resistant. So if you drag your keys across it while in your pocket it, or loose change should happen to come in contact with the screen, you are supposed to not have horrible scratches. Also, it says nothing about being 'scratch proof', so they understand that scratches will occur.

I'm not defending Apple, just showing that we tend to twist things to what we want them to mean. There is no such thing as 'un-biased' media. Just a thought...

Otter box defender series has to be the UGLYEST case I've seen for the ip4.
    1. Bulky as fack!
    2. The screen protector suxs
    3. It attracts lint like a mofo!! U can't even take pics! Cuz of all te lint and and around ur phone.

Best combo I think Is the speck candy shell and a screen protector.

Best buy insurance is 15 a month but it's a great piece of mind knowing that they replace on the spot. I still have a bumper and ivisashield on since I don't want to get a phone with unjailbreakable firmware but I will if I get a crack.

My iPhone 4 screen broke about two weeks ago.. It fell from my friends, yes I said my friends, lap while he was sitting in a chair.. he leaned over and it fell to the floor maybe a foot and a half.. and it shattered.. Took it to the Apple store and nope, they want $200 to fix it. Minds well just buy a new one....................
    iPhone Firmware - 4.1
    Service - AT&T
    Device - iPhone 4 BLACK 16GB

The otter box I think is the best. Yes the older otter box was bulky but the new one for the i4 is slimmed down. I had no problems taking pics with my 3g when I had my otter box on and have no problems now taking pics with it on my i4. If you get lint on it take it off and clean it. I would much rather deal with lint then a cracked screen or dust under the screen any day.

Funny mine works perfect with the case, incase, on my car caradle Wilson amp, on my Sony Alrm clock, on my portable boombox, on my Sony home stereo theater cradle. On the 1 or 2 things I found it did not fit I just slipped of the bottom of the case and it fit in EVERything!

I think the reality is that Apple wanted you to believe the glass was stronger and more scratch resistant, but ended up created something of inferrior quality (extremely brittle).

Further, they engineered the unit to make it impossible to separate glass from screen.

I really dont think they real world tested this phone AT ALL.

Or perhaps the did not care...I mean more service dollars for them right?

  20. #119
Well it is glass. If you can't stand the sight of a case on your iPhone just resign to the fact if you drop it and the screen breaks it is your fault. No matter what the manufacturer tries to sell you on the design glass will crack when hitting a hard surface if not protected.

Otterbox. you can throw them 20 feet in the air and let them drop to the ground with no phone damage.
