Haha! Suck on that one Steeeeeeve. I bet he's sitting in a corner with his iPhone crying like a little girl. I got a feeling now apple will start finding ways to make it harder to jailbreak the iPhone just to prove a point.

Another exemption will allow owners of used cell phones to break access controls on their phones in order to switch wireless carriers.
At the end of the day, Apple will still makes a sale.... just not AT&T.

I wonder what the Canadian government has to say about it. I hope they find a similar verdict

    No, not even close

All in all, this is a win for us users

I guess the question that remains is this. They said switching carriers. That's the big one. Who provides the unlock for the phone to be used on another network. Jailbreaking, we have a full understanding, the warranty is the gray area that has yet to be determined. Like some have said, Apple will find a way to make sure you have voided it. This would make it very complex to maintain a separate code for unlocked and locked phones. Or am I puffing smoke here and clouding my own perception. I guess it could as well mean that They can release a new update that will ask for a "unlock" code.

Again, I'm speculating and tossing my thoughts into the ring.

Um, they never did. No company can really force you to use their product a certain way. They really have no say in how you use it past the point of sale. What they can do is deny support, void the warrenty, etc.

people think that this means that apple now has to allow people to jailbreak. IT DOES NOT!!!! it only means that it is legal to jailbreak, but apple can patch it to get rid of it because it's also legal for them to do that.

I heard some idiot in my class talking about how this is great news, and now everyone can "jailbreak" and be on Verizon.

    I just shook my head.

Funny and so true. People just don't know or care ... until it's too late.

That's the primary reason for the craziness in our companies, in our laws, with out politicians, and with most everything. People listen to sound-bites or marketing-hype and believe its. The blind leading the blind ...

I wish the idiots could take their iPhones to Verizon. It would mean...

    1. Less overall network usage on AT&T - no excuse left for AT&T network to be crap.
    2. Large loss of customers for AT&T might force them to offer some better voice and data packages to keep customers.
