hi guys, hate to rant, but why does everyone here assume the iphone has to be from ATT, i live in USA, bought an iphone 3gs 32gb and found that its an overseas phone, specifically spain's muvistar service. Now i cant get past the emergency screen. wasted $10 on some posters advice that a O2 card will work... pls be considerate, and if anyone has any experience with DITS card or any other phonebook SIM card, pls share your experience. If anyone has any links to any such card where i can buy one except for that $9 + $29 shipping charge from dITS directly, pls share.. if anyone is willing to split shipping with me, pls share. If anyone just wants to use it once and pass it along, we can both buy it together and use the phonebook SIM card

Here is an ebay link for activation sim: eBay mobile

I reviewed his ebay history and has %100 good background. I ask him if this will really work with iPhone 4 and he said it does as he already sold 5 of them. So I ended up buying one last night.

Hello guys, THIS IS THE SIM CARD USED IN THE VIDEO.

PHONEBOOK CARD : Buy Phonebook Card - from IPmart.com

I've bought mine with shipping for 37usd, I bought my iPhone in Europe and I have no idea what carrier its locked with so this will help me to activate it and use it as an iPod (an eventually to sell it for a better price)

    THANKS SHERIF FOR THE VIDEO!!!!

The iphone have been activated when it was on 3.1.2 But I dont have the original sim, so when I restored it to 3.1.3 I used 2 differents sims and it ask me for a ssn and a zip code someway similiar to your iphone 4 case. Maybe its the itunes version, maybe I dont have to connect itunes to the internet...I dont know what to do to activate it and finally unlock it to use it...
Are you sure you have a 3gs? And how did you just recently restore to 3.1.3? Are your shsh files on cydia's server.

Im not sure what you are doing wrong but I have never been ask for any info on a 3g or 3gs. You dont need the original sim. What itunes version are you using? And I think you do have to be connected to the internet.

If you are on 3.1.3 3gs with new bootrom. After you bypass activation, use spirit to jailbreak and then install ultrasn0w from cydia.

Obviously there is no way for me to get a hold of the original owners info. Although I wonder if I can I use my friends microsim from her iPhone 4. Wonder if iTunes will still ask me for the original owners info with my friends microsim? Hmmm.. My last resort would be buying this Dits phonebook sim card...

Very strange. Just right now I updated a iphone for from 4.0 to 4.0.1. I used my sim cutter to cut an old AT&T sim and put it in. I sync it to itunes 9.2 and it bypassed activation.

I think the key here is a DFU restore. Thinking back to the time I experimented with the iphone 4 I think it was just a regular restore that required me to enter the information. Also I only do DFU restores when working with the 3g and 3gs so that is probably why I never got the verify screen you guys are getting.

*note: if you are in DFU mode your screen is black (there is not itunes logo with data cable).

    Hope this helps guys.

Yeah but was that the first initial activate that u did. If its a brand new phone and is registered to someone else and has never been activated before, you can't bypass with any att sim except for buying a programable sim like the DITS sim phonecard. Does it make sense?

  14. #94
I see what you are saying now. Havent tried it on a brand new phone but I dont think it would be any different. I do have another iphone 4 brand new unactivated sealed in the box but I dont think I want to open it just to test your theory.

Have you tried a DFU restore?

Pretty sure this has already been answered a couple times in this thread.

However, no hactivating will only activate the phone. It will also need to be unlocked in order to work on an unsupported carrier.
If I helped at all, hit thanks! ------------>

iPhone 4, you will soon be mine.

@k1653d- Try it and see what happens! If I try the DFU restore, which custom FW should I restore with?

  17. #97
I think I'll hold off for the moment. Maybe if the DFU restore dont work for you I'll try it out.

You dont use custom FW. Just use original apple FW. Download firmware here:

iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download

If you have 3gs or iphone 4 you will have to restore to 4.0.1.

What exactly are you trying to do and what phone do you have?

  18. #98
I have a brand new iPhone 4 never been activated. I don't want to restore to 4.0.1 even if the baseband is the same as 4.0 . Lets seeif I can try restoring it to 4.0

I doubt restoring it back to 4.0 will actually pass the activation screen.
