    I dont think so. I think you have to have a canadian address. Regarding the CC, I think the store would care much about it. Even if they do then also I have the option to use the canadian CC.
    I will use my uncle's address and CC.

Im all over going up north for a pair of phones for my wife and I but I want to know for sure that these issues wont be issues!
    If you are going to Canada then buy it unlocked from the apple store. In that way when you update the firmware or anything on this phone the phone will not be locked because it is unlocked by the factory.

    Just a note to those USA'ians that are planning on popping over to Canada for their unlocked Iphone 4..

    The pre orders haven't been released here yet.

    We probably won't get them until Sept at the earliest. We can't even pre-order the 4g's yet, just put our name on a list to be notified that the pre-ordering is available.

    I suspect they did this specifically to combat cross border shopping.

    iPhone Unlock - 1 Click, 2min iPhone 3G/3GS Software Unlock guaranteed
    Any used thus place or have any history with them. I have always used Dev in the past. Thinking this maybe an option instead of Canadian iPhone.

    "#If I buy iPhone from this Apple Online Store, can I ship it to another country?

    No. Orders placed through this Apple Online Store can be shipped only within the country of purchase. You can also shop for friends and family in countries where iPhone is sold. Just visit the local store of the country where you want your products delivered. Or for fast, easy ordering and expert advice, just call an Apple Online Store specialist at 1-800-MY-APPLE."

    ok, so this is how i read this. Orders placed on THIS online store can be delivered only to country where its purchased........so, orders placed on THIS (Apple Canada) online store, can be delivered to the country (U.S.) where it is purchased (U.S. Computer where i am accessing Apple Canada online store)

    Does anyone else read this the way I am reading it? Free Delivery of F-unlocked iPhone to my doorstep in the U.S.?

    @vartanarsen
    You seem to have a serious problem with the English language. The country of purchase would be Canada. Dream on if you think they will ship to US.

    hi jlew, you know I am in the same issue except i live atlantic-side...Montreal is about 4 hours north from me. The only issue i can foresee is if I walk into the Laval Coureour Apple Store, whether they will gladly take my $6~~ Canadian Cash and give me the phone, or will they drill me about addresses and stuff..cause I dont have any addresses up there

    Vartensen;

    Unless you speak French, they won't drill you.. they probably won't even acknowledge your existance..

    That may be the giveaway if you try to purchase in QB.

    The worst they can say is No.
    and then you get a nice vacation in a wonderful city with lots of things to see and do!

    Per the Free Trade Act, There is absolutely no duty on products imported from Canada that are originally made in the USA or a product of the USA, however be prepared to PROVE to US customs that it is actually made in the USA, IE: box, instructions etc that identify it as a US product. If you are unable to prove it, the duty is usually the same as a sales tax, 6.5-7%

    With the popularity of apple products, its likely you will not have difficulty proving it to be a US product

  16. #136
    When the customs agent asks you if you bought anything, just say you bought an Apple. You don't have to be more specific, and you are not lying. Agent could just think you bought the fruit.

    That is a good way to get yourself in a whole lot of trouble. It is illegal to import fruit into the USA.

    What does it mean 'or a product of the USA' - the iPhone is made in China.

    Not that it's a problem for me as Apple sell them unlocked here (not cheap mind you).

    A product of the USA is a product designed and distributed by a company that is headquartered in the USA. For example, an Iphone is a product of the USA, even though it manufactured in China, because Apple is a US company and is headquartered in the USA. On the back of your Iphone box it says "Designed by Apple Inc. in California"

    However, if you were importing say a Nokia product, it would trigger a duty because it is designed and manufactured outside the USA.

    Thank you for clarifying.
    In which case no one should have to worry about duty when importing an unlocked iPhone from Canada to the USA
