This has been said dozens of times all over. Do people not realize that if this means we get a front facing camera we will probably have skype alter their App to be able to use it?
I once prayed to God for an iPhone, but quickly found out He didn't work that I stole an iPhone and prayed for His forgiveness.

You mean the android phone HTC evo? It's not out yet, but it is quite the sexy phone. NO trackball or anything though so kind of ruins it for me.

Who cares about long as the next iPhone has a front facing cam, other apps will take advantage of it.

I'd have to agree with that.

I wonder what kind of Apps you could make with a front facing Camera?..

Sounds cool to me, I already see people crying because they are locked in with the 3gs,that was me last year. Wife and I are both out of contract and these slow 3g we have will soon be history. I hope the next iphone is something to get excited about, but I have my doubts.

Unless jailbreakers save the day (as they always do) and create something that lets us do it anyway. (Though without a mirror, it might be hard to have a conversation)

this is what i've been waiting for. It's also the reason i'm going to hold off on the iPad. I think in the next model iPad, they'll add a front facing camera.

Even if it didn't have video chat 4.0 is still going to rock, along with the 4G iPhone.

Thats great but.. once again. who use iChat? Also MobileMe is a paid service, now who wants to pay to chat when there free and more popular service like gtalk, yahoo im, aim, msn, skype, etc, etc, etc.

Now if people can sign up for ichat for free and use it simliar to BBM, I can see it become a little more popular. Of course then we're talking about Apple, so they'll find a way to screw it up some how.

So let me get this straight--this new iChat process seen to be running in beta firmware hasn't shown up in the past, right? How can there be ANY doubt at this point in time that the new iPhone this summer will have iChat? It is completely without a doubt for me, at least. I sure hope it still supports AIM, despite some people's opinions on AIM. I still use it because 1) I love how iChat integrates with the stock apps on Mac OS, and 2) I'm not trying to push all of my friends to switch to Skype just because I want to. iChat handles my video chats fine (when I have them).

obviously not because you'd all be here complaining about how it overheats, and how the battery life is DRASTICALLY reduced, now just imagine a constant stream both ways, I have no idea how this will work in a real world environment...
videochat uses vastly greater compression .. and the image generally changes a lot less.. compare a video scene with constantly changing imagery to the video of a face with moving lips / eyes and small facial changes..
