Bring on 4.0...I won't be getting beta 4.0. Sounds like it'll be a hassle 

The only thing I'd still want to jailbreak for is a missed call reminder. Or do any of the new api's allow for creation of such an app to be done officially? Still can't believe how three phones and 4 OS's in a missed call reminder is not a standard feature.

Okay.. Strange problems with the 3G version of OS 4.0 here. The background is NOT, I repeat, NOT user changeable. It stays black and there is no way to alter this. I can only set the background for the lockscreen through Settings -> Wallpaper. The little pop-up icon in the Photos app is disabled..

  8. #68
^go into your settings and change background there instead of within the Photo's app. That's what i had to do

I did, but the only option I had was to change the lockscreen's background picture.. Or is there a different option available?

Hello everyone, I would really enjoy a spot for testing iPhone OS 4.0. Sadly, I do not have the money or commitment to pay Apple $99 a year for their development program at the time, so I offer this trade:

If anyone has spaces on their iPhone development program for iPhone OS 4.0, then please and me and I will give you the following:

An invite to Google Wave (if you are unfamiliar with this Google service, it is basically a revolutionary communications network, which is invite only right now you can check it out here: "http://mashable.com/2009/10/02/video-google-wave-gets-explained/" and more in depth, here: "http://completewaveguide.com/")
Please, as I would really LOVE to test out the iPhone OS 4.0!!!

    Thank you!

Wait, does the iPod Touch even need to have the UDID registered?

possible battery drain on 3GS with 4.0

Could be related to backgrounding apps that are not 4.0 spec. More to come.

looks like I'll be waiting to use my friend's Mac to try out 4.0 beta

*sigh* Yet another reason to get a Mac....

  15. #75
I broke down and decided to buy a 99.00 developer SDK. I'll sell slots to people who wan't to try out the 4.0 Beta. email me at [email protected]

I'm not sure I understand your original post; if you decrypt the filesystem and change the value for multi-tasking it enables it for 3G? Same case for iPod Touch 2G?

I loaded OS 4.0 on an iPod Tough 2G yesterday and am glad I didn't put it on my 3G first. Some wi-fi networks didn't work at all, of course no multi-tasking, and most importantly...no JB.

just wondering and to make things clear,

you'll need a mac to install 4.0 beta into the iphone?

why cant windows itunes do the same job?

  18. #78
I just installed osx on vmware and have everything up and running. But i can't do the alt and click thing to select the firmware, can someone help? this is really bugging me.

  19. #79
I had to use the new version of iTunes. After that, all I did was put the phone into DFU mode, Alt click on the recover button, select the ipsw file that I put on the desktop and 4 minutes later I have 4beta on my 3gs......

  20. #80
Does it have to be in dfu mode to enable the alt and click function then?
