Thread: AT&T MMS is On - Boom

  1. #321
    I got one question....does anyone have the old first gen iPhone plan with the SIM into the 3G iPhone and MMS fully working?

    Updated the carrier file carrier 5.5 file but MMS is not working, but on my gf 3G iphone with the correct plan it is working perfectly.

    I updated my carrier file this morning and never received a text all day... wish I would have known to restart because after I did the MMS are working just fine!

    Default Just a little note for those of you who still can't mms
    So first of all I am on 3.1 jailbroke w/ Pwnage tool on my 3g.I received the AT&T text this evening around 2:00pm. I went home and selected "update" and then restarted... nothing - still get ! when I send. I did a little research and started doing some of the trouble shooting steps set by apple/AT&T and this forum... Nothing. Reset my network, used stealth bravo's 6.0 file, and then finally called AT&T. AT&T had me do more trouble shooting with with them and after about an hour they told me this: For those customers still having problems with their iPhone mms, they are pushing the release date back 24-48 hours (this was at 12:30am sat morning mountain time.) So if you have exhausted all your options, you might be in the same boat I am.

    The tutorial says it's for 3.1, but again, I'm on 3.0.1 and it's working for me.

    Also, the link on that site for the IPCC (as of 09/25/09 @ 3:32 central) is for 5.1 version of the carrier file. That is what I'm using now.

    I haven't tried it with the new 5.5 though, not sure what the differences are.

    This worked perfectly on my 3G Jailbroken 3.0. I was on carrier 4.0 and not getting a text or option to upgrade. I downloaded the carrier info file, followed this guide and it worked perfectly!

    Yea I actually called in for a friend an hour ago to att's late night support cause his mms still wasnt turned on.
    Apparently our Accounts are getting upgraded also, So even if you updated the carrier some people still can't send or receive MMS until their account gets provisioned/upgraded.

    Att's response was the same 24 hours and the account should be updated.

    Just Reboot and keep trying to send.

    I'm running 3.1 on my 3G and loaded the Stealth 6.0 ipcc. Everything is working, but no Tether capability available...

    Stealth...I noticed that you are using 3.1 and the 6.0 ipcc carrier update. You state that you have access to tethering? Is this correct? I have a 3G (3.1) and have downloaded the 6.0ipcc. I have access to the cellular data config, but don't see a tether option. Is it available for 3G (3.1) user's?

    YOU DO NOT HAVE TO UPDATE TO 3.1 to get MMS!

    I have it working on my and my wifes 3Gs....

    For those who are having problems with iTunes not locating the ipcc file....Follow these steps and it will work with (Vista 32bit)....download .ipcc file 5.0
    1.Close iTunes....
    2.Disconnect iPhone from PC.....
    3.If you have custom carrier, reset it to the regular AT&T logo (Change back when finished)
    4.Go to task manager (Ctrl+ALT+Del)
    5.Click on the processes tab and close any process having to do with iTunes...(most likely iTunes Helper)
    6. now go to start, in search type cmd
    7. TYPE the command...do not copy and paste...
    “C: \Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1 (again, do not copy and paste...)
    8.Connect Iphone and open iTunes...

    Now when you hit Shift+Update you should be able to change it from .ispw to .ipcc

    Locate it from where you downloaded it to and open....when completed...reboot iphone and go to settings, General, Network, Cellular Data Network...

    Scroll down until you see settings for MMS
    APN= wap.cingular
    Username= [email protected]
    Password (Case Sensitive)= CINGULAR1
    MMSC= mmsc.cingular.com
    MMS Proxy= 66.209.11.32
    MMS Max Message Size= 61440

    If you recieved a text from AT&T you may not have to enter this into settings...you may be fine after you update the .ipcc file and reboot....if not...update the settings as you see here..These steps worked for me...and i had the same problem a few days ago with iTunes not seeing .ipcc Good Luck!
    Still a bit fresh at this...and will evolve to FRESH in a Bel Air type of way!

    It seems that AT&T is blocking something from the 2G data plan. I did upgrade the carrier file on my iphone and it is NOT working, but I swapped my gf sim which has the 3G iphone data plan and txt and it works perfectly so not sure how we can get it work. Not a big issue as I don't really send out lots of MMS but it ll be nice to have an extra option.

    My contract is over too and just don't feel paying the extra $10 for something that works fine on the iphone 3G. Data and Visual VoiceMail works fine it is just the MMS that is blocked!!

    Taking bets on what everyone else is going to complain about now that we all have MMS.

    StealthBravo, If I use your 6.0, do I need to change the apn settings or leave them as defaults?

    Ditto.

    So ever since I jailbroke 3.1 w/ pwnage I have not had an ATT carrier name up in the left corner. Everything has worked just fine and I have no problem calling/sms and surfing the net. Would this have anything to do with why I am not able to get mms working? And is there any sort of fix? Anyone in the same boat?

  18. #337
    So, you use Stealth's ipcc, when you had a problem you phoned AT&T who said that they were having problems which would be resolved and you're still asking if anyone else can fix it?

    OK, Stealth, if you've got nothing else on can you just go and resolve all of AT&T's network issues for kraziebone please, buy the time I got there AT&T will have fixed them themselves....

    Alot of people that jailbroke to 3.1 are in the same boat, it apparently isn't having any affect on the phone just the look. I'm sure this will be handled quite soon but it's not all that important.

  20. #339
    The missing carrier name is well known and the Dev Team have explained that in their Blog post.
    It does not affect MMS unless you install MiM or another logo which will then give you an exception error.

    AT&T 5.0 carrier file, running on OS 3.0 Redsn0wed a while back. Using these settings I've had MMS for the past few weeks, and it uploads very quickly. Like, average of about 5-6 seconds to upload an image, and it takes my wife about 15-20 seconds to receive the message usually. Very nice.
