Thread: 3GS Jailbreak - redsn0w 0.8 - DevTeam Style

  1. #81
Lmao @ Dev team. Theyre like "were releasing the jailbreak when 3.1 comes out becuz of teh future problems". BULL**** GeoHotz released his before and now they had to.

  2. #82
I think they released it because the code they wanted to keep from apple before 3.1, since the code was already public, and there were quiet alot of complaints about purplera1n, so they tried to release a more stable version. However I too think they haven't achieved it.

People don't get it that the reason some apps like tricker3g and winterboard aren't working isn't because of the jailbreak method. Saurik has to UPDATE the apps so they can work with the 3GS.

GeoHotz jailbreak was released first and is better and easier than the Dev team.

Btw if you have problems with redsn0w you need to try it on XP. If you are on Vista it just won't work. Tried it on my friends iPhone 2G and it always stuck on waiting for reboot no matter how many times i tried.

Default Worked for me so Far
I did a full restore then applied the jb.

    Everything seems fine...

Ok some need to stop hating here..... there is room for multiple JB methods. I prefer the easier purplera1n but redsn0w is also a great JB. Let's keep our head about us here ffs.

anyone know how to contact the tricker3g or voipover3g devs to see when they might provide a fix? this is the main reason to jb for me and i'm sure many others.

  11. #91
Thanks for the confirmation. Some folks on bigboss.org were reporting voipover3g didn't work. I will give it a try later this evening.

Gruk, I contact the DEV for voipover3g as this was my main reason for JB as well. Its all around updates to mobile substrate which Saurik will be working on as his next project. With the amount of anticipation around it...i wouldnt see it taking TOO long

One problem people might hit when using Redsn0w over Purplera1n - as reported by a colleague of mine on another forum:

heh that was a waste of downloading.

None of the apps off appulo will sync to the jailbroke iPhone

Plus, it was so easy to JB, how can you beat pressing a single button "make it ra1n"?

It seems many people thinks dev-team JB is better because it says it patches some kernel....but doesn't mobilesubstrat make winterboard and such operate? We JB to modify mobilesubstrate so that we can run winterboard and such apps. So IMO, GeoHot's purplera1n and Dev-Team's redsn0w has no difference and dev team just released this because GeoHot beat them.

Remeber Dev-Team saying waiting for 3.1 to release jailbreak a week ago?
    2nd that
