Thread: Will Rogers land the iPhone for Canada?

  1. #21
I hate Rogers because they are the ONLY GSM carrier out here. I dont count Fido since Rogers owns it. The rest of the other carriers are CDMA which means phones have to be modded to use it and cant be done by people. I really dont see the Iphone coming out there, they just released the TyTN and the 2nd model is already out in the states. That phone is priced at 399 before a data plan and this is for an outdated phone, what do you think an Iphone will cost? 599 on a two year contract? Canada is lagging behind in terms of phone models and thats why I dont bother with their plans. I go prepaid and import phones with Wifi. Best way around the data plans if I must say. I looked at getting a blackberry before and what a rip off they were. I had to cough up 300 for the phone ONLY if I signed a 75 dollar data plan and can only switch out after 3 months and the lowest data plan they have is 45. Way too much for me. Im happy to be getting my Iphone soon, should be fun being the first person I know to have one and probably the first in my area.

    Default 1 for 1
The canadian dollar has been trading at par all this last week! 1 for 1! It dipped to .9985 today. hehe. Made my iPhone seem a bit cheaper, but I'll get nailed for it when I get back to Rogers and their data rates. I'm hoping they are forced to offer a reasonable unlimited data plan once they start selling it in Canada.

Fido could also sell the iPhone, they are GSM as well. But same thing really, Rogers bought Fido a couple years ago....
