Thread: Use Installer to Jailbreak 1.1.3 - MMi Installer Repo

  1. #381
This might be as stable as it gets... did you revirginize your baseband? I think that (fixing baseband) and *not* restoring my iPhone when going from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2, etc. (meaning, having iTunes treat it as a new iPhone) were what did the trick for me.

See my previous post for how I did it... and a link to the How-To I used in combination with MMI's 1.1.3 Jailbreak.

whenever my phone crashes i have to boot it back with independence or ibrikr, so in another word if i'm nowhere near my pc outside, i'm screwed, i'll go back to 1.1.2 until there's a fix or it gets more stable

waste of my time none of this works with the new bootloader.

I soooo feel your pain... everything "works" but a hard reset leaves me in recovery having to use ibrikr to boot it out....

Hi ! Everyone, Does Anybody Know If Ipsf Hold This Jailbreake ? (1.1.3)
    Yes it does.

Does this method clean out that 185 MB restore file it downloads? No. You'll need to delete it still once you get to 1.1.3.
Try using the 1.1.3 Soft Upgrade cleaner from the installer?
I havent been able to find the mysterious 185mb file either.

I did this jailbreak this afternoon and everything works well, the only thing is when i connect my iphone with itunes, i see (on the memory bar) about 350mb in "Other" section. I think that is the firmware, but i don't know how can I erase this mb.

    Can anybody help me please?

Tho I'm also reading that the disk image that the official 1.1.3 JB uses is only 270megs, which basically loses us 30megs on our OS partition. This would be why installer is crashing when installing apps, as there is no free space.
totally agree with you, ive been searching a couple different forums and i cant find where the location is......... is it secretive or is it just me?

the good news is it works a treat. took about an hour and all third party apps had to be reinstalled. The only thing which doesn't seem to be able to be reinstalled is summerboard. Does anybody know anything about this? Many thanks

Yes it does work with the new bootloader. I've jailbroken 7 phones with a 4.6 bootloader.

Oh and to everyone that wants to free up the 185mb of space, you can't. That's the iphone's firmware. I have a 1.1.3 stocl iphone in front of me and there is 194Mb of other showing in iTunes.

To 'free memory' i.e. disk space use either method:

    * Use bigboss to move your apps to /private/var/root
    * or... Manual method
    1. ssh into iPhone
    2. cd /
    3. cp -Rp /Applications /private/var/root/Applications
    4. rm -rf /Applications
    5. ln -s /private/var/root/Applications
    6. remove 'noexec' from line 2 of /etc/fstab
    7. reboot

so with nate's jailbreak method, we could delete the image (which i did), now i just went back to 1.1.1 to 1.1.3(devs method) but the 185MB cant be erased because its actally the firmware itself? that makes sense - i used boss tools, and moved everything - that'll work for me, But i wish i wouldve stayed at nates method - cause that was a lot of hassle to me.

    thanx guys!

i got rid of the whole 200+MB of used "other" space after upgrade.

    i deleted the folder 'x' in /private/var/.

x should have 022-3743-100.dmg and 022-3743-250.dmg, should pretty much free up all the space

That worked like a champ! Does this have potential to cause any other conflicts within the OS?
