Thread: 1.1.3 Jailbreak Achieved - not public yet

  1. #141
some iphone modding sites are saying you need to do hardware modifications for the 1.1.3 jailbreak. i hope this isnt true or i wont be updating my phone i dont like the thought of opening up my phone and permanantly modding it. with hardware modds, can apple just "change" something in the next update so that the hardware modd isnt working anymore, and also make your phone briked because they make it so that the circuts that you shorted with the hardware mod are required for the next update?

  2. #142
in the post hackintosh, updating that no hardware modification need

Im starting to think that the SDK is gunna win this fight, if the apps are very reasonably priced and there is alot of choice there will be no reason to keep it jailbreaked, anything that we have on our 1.1.2's now will IMO be on the official path in no time and 100% bug free

Its all up to the 3rd party developers how this one goes........

Come feburary and the release of the SDK we will see how strong this modding scene really is

  4. #144
I agree that the SDK will definitely pose a potential threat against jailbreaking. However, it would be nice to see if we could somehow use the iTunes delivery system to our advantage, and sync apps that way Doubt it, but it would be cool.

For Emu's, I doubt any company would be willing to make any, nor would apple be willing to endorse any. So it's hard to say really. I know Emu's aren't everything, but they are just an example.
And it will be like a taco inside a taco within a Taco Bell that's inside a KFC that's within a mall that's inside your dream!

    This is great news.

I don't intend to sound cynical here, but when the SDK is officially released, aren't most if not all 3rd party Developers going to try and release their Apps thru iTunes in order to get official payment for all their time and effort creating these Apps? After all, they do deserve wide recognition for their great coding achievements. SwirlyMMS for example.

At present, they've done a great job in releasing their Apps with only donations, but once Apple allow additional Applications to be installed officially, won't we see the end of these free Applications, and ultimately no longer the requirement for a jailbreak method.

Just a thought and I hope it doesn't happen.

I wouldn't blame them for a second if they did. I mean, why release a great Application for free, and rely on Donations, when you can fully advertise and sell it on the world's most popular Online Digital Music/Multimedia store?

Once the jailbreak is made public, make sure you toss some fundage over to the dev team for their work. (Their site is down right now or I'd link - will add link when its back up). Rock n' roll, folks, the cat and mouse game continues.

I'm not sure I buy this.....I don't see the connection between the release of the SDK and installer. Even if you wait, I am sure Apple can reverse engineer and figure out how it was broken. So delaying just makes be question whether ya'll have really jailbroke it. For my money I would just release it as I'm not sure your so-called plan will accomplish anything. Unless what you are hoping for is to sale your application(s) under the SDK which is fine...but why not just admit that if that is the case!

Doesn't matter to me what happens, I am willing to support both the mod scene and or apple (pending reasonable prices on apps). Great work DEV Team. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

ok Macky801 that is what i have been thinking for so long! apple is still going to update their stuf no matter what and since there are going to be native apps they will probably make a new signature thing that only will allow approved apps go up anyway so their is no reason to not tell us because i guarentee we will have to jailbreak it again 1 and two if they really want to wait then they should at least tell us if it was easy you know? like ok they should tell us if we can upgrade to 1.1.3 and then jailbreak it or if we need to be in 1.1.2 because i would upgrade and wait if you can jailbreak straight from 1.1.3

There are a lot of cool new features in 1.1.3 but honestly, more than anything I just want the updated Google Maps.

    Default Question
I'm not clear on the workings of the 1.1.3 jailbreak, but then again, who is other than the dev team. So with that said, this question is probably unknown, but here goes anyway.

When this release is public, will I still have to open my phone up to complete the jailbreak because of the boot version on my iphone being newer than 3.9? I thought I had read that when its released, you'll still have to open up your phone to change the version of the boot loader....God, there's no way in hell I'll be able to accomplish that. First of all, the tabs that are in the tutorial (in regard to downgrading from 1.1.3) that allow you to take off your antenna part of your phone, does not exist on my iphone. I can plainly see then in his tutuorial pictures, but there are NONE on my phone.

    Hope you have the answers!

    THanks

i think a lot of people are not thinkng outside the box. If and when SDK is released, then i would bet apple will not be able to update their OS or firmware as easily as they do now. If they were to update, they could kill the SDK software that people had paid for. Therefore a workin jailbreak would likely last longer.

Maybe this has already been said, but it seems that all people really want are the programs. I am not sure how this would work, but couldn't you just take the Maps program from the jailbroken 1.1.3 iPhone and try it on a 1.1.2 or 1.1.1 iPhone and see if it works? And then if it works, couldn't you release those programs without risk of releasing the jailbreak method? I have tried the 1.1.2 programs on my 1.1.1 iPhone with good results, why wouldn't it work again with 1.1.3 to 1.1.2? Just a thought and it's worth a try... Thanks.
