Default any way to access the dialer ?
Hi I know this has been asked before but i was wondering if anyone has figured out any way to get access to or replace the native apps - specifically i'd like to have my app be alerted on an incoming call regardless of whether the caller is in the address book. I'd also like to replace the dialer with something smarter. Any ideas or pointers would be really appreciated !

On a rant, I have to say i am incredibly annoyed and irritated that i bought something so expensive only to find that Apple is so stingy with access.

If you're talking about the official SDK then you can't do either. Apple is not allowing access to phone or email functionality through the SDK. (I assume to prevent rogue apps from spamming through the phone but it's still an extremely annoying limitation.)

In the official SDK you can't replace existing applications or portions of applications - the system partition is read-only.

However, you can make (basic) phone calls using the tel: protocol.

But if you have the um.. unofficial version that was leaked then follow these steps to be able to ssh into the phone...

    "Instructions:
    Its very simple...
1: make sure you are running on a pwned 1.1.4 ipod/iphone
2: make sure you have open ssh and bsd subsystem installed
3: make sure you actually have the 2.o firmware
4: make a custom 2.0 firmware to restore to
EDIT: restore to the 2.0 firmware.
5: download cyber duck ( or any ssh program for windows ) for osx
6: connect to wifi on phone/ipod
    7: open cyber duck to
    Server: (your ip address)
    Username: root
Password: alpine (maybe dottie for some of you0
    YOU ARE DONE:
Note: only app thats works on 2.0 is the extended preferences app."
