    Great news, Ian.
Always liked "On Demand" GPS update more then constant, simply because I only need to know the weather in a new location in which I will be working for some time. Don't need weather info when I am travelling, I can see the current weather and don't care what the weather will be like in an hour, I will be 40 miles further away from that spot.
Here are my 2 cents worth.
As we know from the MyLocation app experience a minor iOS version update can render the app useless. Closed source makes it hard to fix/update. If the creator loses interest it won't get maintained and even if it becomes OpenSource there are very few comfortable with recompiling in THEOS/Xcode.
Because of these possible negative side effects I was looking for an alternative to achieve the same. The method with the iPhone Web Server worked great in iOS 5, it also worked in iOS 6 and iOS 7. It still works with iOS 8.1.1. It did not needed any "modification", it also will work in iOS 9 and on. All is OpenSource, everybody can edit files. OK, it involves javascript/html, php and shell script. Each is a programming language on their own, but what you can do with it is huge. I have currently a One-Touch-On-Demand GPS update (14 decimals!), saved in a txt file, but at the same time the shell script also downloads a weather response xml file for the newly saved GPS coordinates. It uses Weather Underground as the weather service as this is the best one for me, Yahoo is crap, but weather.com is even worth now in iOS8. I also can set what weather info I want in a Setting menu.

Just out of fun I also set the weather info to be downloaded every 5 minutes.
Not working 100% as it does not download every 5 minutes when the iPhone is locked at night, but then I don't need them then either.
It's just a project-in-work I am interested in until cydget becomes available for iOS8.

I have another compiling related question.

My "Lat n Long" app was made with xCode (not using iOSOpenDev as not sure how to use this yet), so at present it cannot save to "var/mobile Documents", I can save to "var" (which I thought was a bit strange) so I create a folder in var called "Coordinates", it works fine like this.

So my question: If I make my app into a deb file & install through Cydia, will it then be able to save to var/mobile/Documents?

Maybe it's best I just try it & see

perhaps you can test /private/var/mobile/Documents .. cause /var is just only a link

Makes no difference, the error I get was permission error, I will test it & see what happens.

Ian, if you create a deb file from your app, then you also could add a symlink, as deb files can include symlinks, unlike rar or zip files.
Just create a symlink from your saved txt file into /var/mobile/Documents/myLocation.txt.
By using a symlink it really does not matter where the original file is saved. Just check the owner/group and read/write permission. No point in having a myLocation.txt file that belongs to "root" as almost no app/tweak/theme would be able to use it as they almost all run as "mobile".

hi guys does anybody know when and if convergence will be updated to ios8? tia

  16. #1690
It already has been. Matt is just working out a few of the bugs. He won't release it until it's damn near bug free. If you already own it, then you can get the latest beta from his repo. I know he is very busy with school right now, but he has put out several betas.

    Check out WW3 for iOS 9/10 - Widget-Weather 3.0

Just thought I'd share that in case it helps anyone.
    Hi Marty,

did you plan to make your great LockScreens i6 compatible?

  21. #1693
    Hi,

I have seen that the RC7 link is broken.

Here a RC9, some improvements and the possibility to disable the reverse animations (which depend of wind direction). It may help with resprings for 6+ (not guaranteed).

I did a full "DFU > Set up as New" last night on 8.1.1 and I have had RC 9 running for 6 hours now on my 6+ SB
I turned off the reverse animations, the twilight effect, the frost effect, the full screen fog, and the wiper.

I have not had a single respring today with normal usage. (I have not been heavy testing it, which I will tomorrow)

Thanks again Dacal, my iPhone would be sad without you bro!

EDIT: And I gave you my 1000th Post! 👍👊

Just a basic widget with no animations via groovylock. Just added in a less simple widget now.

Tomorrow I am going to add in an animation widget (more simple than UniAW) and then Convergance. Going to see if I can find the breaking point, and then stay under it.
