    Hi All,
I'm using Chevy's ww2.0 base and I'm trying to disable the touch layer for location info (it's the top touch layer that displays your coordinates and address when you touch the cuty) and can't for the life of me find it. Can someone point me in the right direction please. Tia

To disable it, in the touch.js file, add 2 forward slashes directly before this line like so:

    Code:
    //document.getElementById("CurrentLocation").addEventListener(touchmode, touchLocation, false);

I'm in the process of doing UniAW7.1, I already have the "stop animations" touch event in it but I will see if I can make an option to start without animations. The Core mod uses 6.4 so is a little different, and with the lack of interest from Blue I won't be supporting it, that said, maybe sometime in the future when I got nothing to do I will play with it. Splatty requested the same thing.

BTW, UniAW7.1 will have only one Style css file for all devices, I'm about 2 thirds of the way through removing all pixel sizes & replacing them with percent or em, then I will just use javascript to detect the screen size and set the width & height of the body accordingly, this way, using only one css file, everything scales & repositions automatically.

UniAW7.1 will not have live forecast or slideshow.

So far, everything is working as it should, but I'm just testing on the Mac, later I will have to pass it to someone with a 6+ & 6 for real world testing.

It will mean moders will have to use percent instead of px in the css file if they want their mods to fit all phones.

Won't be posting it for a few weeks though.

It has given me lots of problems to solve (which I like ):
I couldn't get all the forecast tables to re-size correctly, tried for hours, in the end I had to remove the tables altogether and set each element in separate div's, this makes the css parts for forecast & hourlyforecast very long so might put these parts in a separate css file just to keep things tidy.

The text was the worst part, e.g. font size 11px is good for iph5 but looks far too small in iph6+, using "%" for font size doesn't work, neither does "em", I spent hours testing this but eventually I got it resizing correctly, and this is a game changer.

Using "vw" (which means a percentage of viewport width, not VolksWagen ), so in iph5, "font-size: 3.3vw;" means 3.3% of 320, but in iph6 it scales to 3.3% of 375 so everything looks the same on iph5, 6 & 6+.
You could also use "vh" (percentage of viewport height).
Here is a small video showing it being used on the digital clock font, notice how it resizes correctly once I set the viewport to the correct width. Sorry all other things are not finished yet.
    vw - YouTube

But I'm still working on it, I just this morning discovered "vw" & just in last few minutes tested it with digital clock & forecast days text, working great, but if you want to test this for yourself, be sure to set your HTML editor (Taco in your case) preview window to the exact width of your device.
If you test in Chrome you have to resize the window to fit the width of the display exactly.
Testing on the device itself has no issues.

I have lots to do, so to all, please no more PM's asking for it, I will tell you all when it's ready & needs testing, but give me at least 2 weeks because I also have other things to do.

    Thanks.

    Default UniAW7
Yep. A total game-changer for all widget designers! When this is done - and Apple releases even larger phones this fall - UniAW "8" will already fit all screen sizes without any auto size code switching in config.js! Amazing!

Other modders, from your vh and vw code syntax find above can start implementing this right now into their own widgets!!

And once again UniAW will be our coding textbook..

Many thanks for the explanation, Ian!

You saying we can all use percentages to auto size our widgets now? And there's gonna be even BIGGER iPhones this fall?
    Amazing.

The only thing bigger about the iPhones this fall will be their names. An extra letter on the end of them. I'll go with history being a better indicator than some seedy rumor site.

And I've been recommending percentage use in the css of uniaw for a while now, at least a year, maybe more. DCL slideshow autosize css is done with percentages so that there is only one css file for all devices. So is the WW2 base. What I haven't seen before is how Ian is using a percentage of viewpoint to size the font too. That's pretty cool.

Yes, Simon.. about the sizing of phones.. I erred - I meant to say on the next redesign cycle. I agree with you.. We'll likely just get a speed increase this time.

But on the %size thing - Ian's using a different method than simply using a number and %.. I've had trouble with the 'number + %' method working in GL+/GB+.. where the vw px method (which I've never seen in any widget yet) seems solid in + versions... I'll do some more checking.. They may do the identical thing. I'm just not versed enough yet. And I'd forgotten Dacal implemented % method in a single css file in the 02_WidgetWeather_Base as you did in DCL slideshow.. Thanks for the reminder.

And the rumor sites have been dead on, with "major" features for the last 3 years.. - though you're right that we can never know for sure..

The WW2 base is sort of using it, but just in the easy stuff LOL like backgrounds & a few containers, none of the contents actually dynamically re-size, it just goes auto into the scroll if the content is too big for the screen.

It's true web designers have been using % for about a thousand 'n' one years, but again, mostly just used for backgrounds etc (see MMI site) cause we get scroll bars if the content doesn't fit, it's very easy to do with simple widgets too (like a slideshow (sorry Simon) )

The UniAW7.1 is not the same, absolutely everything re-sizes/scales, the weatherInfo backgrounds, forecast backgrounds, clocks etc, even the forecast/hourlyforecast icons, and of coarse all the text too, the timed walls were especially tricky & had to wait 12 minutes each time to test it LOL, but I completely failed with all the forecastInfo stuff that was in a table (5day forecast, hourly forecast & moonphaseInfo), I just couldn't get it to re-size correctly I think due to the "position relative" code, but all ok now as I removed the table & set each part separately .

The main css is now finished , next I have to tackle the Animations css files, looking forward to that LOL.

I know I could just set the body width & height to 100% now & it'll work on all devices, but I like to set it exact to see actual device size while editing.

Here is another quick video, also shows off the new animations on/off touch function (which will be the UniAW logo on the clock), good for saving your battery.

    UniAW7 1 - YouTube

Here (attached) is the css file (forecast stuff not included as it's in a different css file) just for moders interested in having a look. I will probably tweak things more later but you will get an idea of the work involved & what you will have to get use to in this widget.

No need for sorry Ian, compared to uniaw, DCL slideshow is super simple. I've thought about doing percentages before with uniaw myself and even started a iPad one using them a while back (that I gave up on because I realized how much time and work would be needed to do it) but the sheer amount of stuff that has to be worked out to use percentages in uniaw is, well, a lot lol. I don't envy you diving into the animations css next, my brain hurts just thinking about it lol.
