Yes.. while I agree with your general assessment there, Simon, this is more than a "for all we know" guess scenario. We "know" a lot. And from the data out there now I believe we can make the educated 'early', conclusion that our respringing has been 'more' a CPU issue at its heart rather than mostly a RAM issue - but, along with which -RAM leaks in 8.1WebKit and too little RAM overall have also played a role.

But you're right to say - no conclusive proof yet exists. But there IS ample empirical data to make informed early conclusions (educated guesses, if you will). The amazing heartiness of the 6+ toward running animation when using a tweak that relies on WKWebKit (which uses 60% less CPU resources than UIWebKit) sure tells us a lot about the likely cause in my view.

hmm interesting that iMods looks cool from what i see on that video now if they think to install that from cydia will be not so cool as the others stores that have try that way died in the end if the future jb tools add both cydia and imods where ppl can chose their own store that will be something new for the future of this community.we need something new and i don't think that new things will be so bad just we need to see how this will go

I'm saying there are great developers out there other than the one's we are use to. At one point when WinterBoard dropped support if wasn't for those mods we weren't able to run Animations on our SB and LS and i should've mentioned iWidgets too.

I think everyone should be given a chance and untill proven wrong. I had Restaurants in the Caribbean and when i started 17 years ago no one knew anything about me and i can tell my Restaurant is still there and doing well.

On my 6+ when use weather only the animations are on top of the icons and it makes the icons untouchable. Is there a way to fix this?

Just the top 2 or 3 rows of icons?
    The bottom rows are ok?
If so then open the Widget.plist file and change the height to 60

    <key>height</key>
    <integer>292</integer>

Dunno if this is off topic or not...

Thought I'd give the new release of lockbuilderevo a go. In it there's a handy memory tool, seems to confirm a previous theory I posited that iPhone now limits the memory available when it's locked. Which in turn could be responsible for the resprings.

Maybe someone smarter than me could work out how to free up all the ram and stop the resprings?

Actually the data several have gathered seems to not point to a memory issues at all but a CPU overuse bug in UIWebKit (that runs our animation widgets).. that runs the CPU very high and the resprings occur when the CPU tops out. This is more logical than a RAM problem given that the 6+ is respringing way more often in the presence of animation widgets - way more than the 5S or 6.. and the 5S/6/6+ all have the same amount of RAM.

But a workaround is on the way from GroovyCarrot by changing our widgets to work with WKWebKit instead of UIWebKit, which uses only 1/4 of the CPU muscle as the buggy UIWebKit is currently using. The new tweak is still in beta.. So hang on.. Resprings will hopefully be less of an issue in the near future if it works.

Outstanding. Knew there were smarties out there 😂 I only post for info in case it helped any. I only have a 6+ to go off. Good to know there's hard work going on behind the scenes 😊

If the data I've gathered is correct - we still will be relying on Apple to fix the 'alleged' bug in UIWebKit. Even 5S/6 and 6+ users NOT using any animated widgets are still occasionally respringing. This, I believe, is because the normal functioning of the iPhone in iOS8 still relies on UIWebKit. So if UIWebKit has a CPU overuse bug.. we're still gonna respring occasionally.. I've even heard of non-jailbroken people random respringing. This sorta proves the 'bug' theory I've been reading about.

So hopefully we'll have more stable days ahead.. both with GroovyCarrot's workaround.. and then eventually with iOS 8.2 or 8.3 if we get a jailbreak.. Maybe Apple will fix their UIWebKit bug..

I suppose this issue might be even further exacerbated by the triple layer nand flash issue in 128gb also. Let's hope that gets worked out too.
