cool nice to read that you are already working on 2 of it ;D I hope that in the future all the widget devs will be using the WW2 iwidget template from Ian. Best to use, better than that crapy yahoo feed

Yes - it's time to let go of the old MaxPatrese code forever.. And anything with the old YahooFeed. Ancient code too.. And most of it, with all due respect, very messy.

    Thanks Marty!!!

I have no problem with doing this, but I find WW2 killing battery life, that's the only reason I stick with the old code. I have tried messing with the settings so that I'm not refreshing that often, but there's not that much of a change. I will lose 2/3 bat life in Ww2 compared to about 1/3 on old format within my norm day. If there's a fix I'm ok with changing, but untill then I'll stick with the old.

In all the testing we've done, I've never seen that much battery usage. Do you need the GPS? There are settings to help reduce battery usage. It's simply just a factor of how accurate you need your position.

No don't need, it's a nice feature to have when traveling but most the time I'm local. I could care less about what neighborhood I'm in. What setting should I be looking for?

Ok, so if you don't care about your location updating constantly, you can set the "Location Update" option to fixed. This will prevent the constant position monitoring.

To reduce the amount of GPS calls to obtain your position, you can go into "GPS Settings" and change "GPS Mode" to "Significant Change" and then increase the values for "GPS Distance Filter" and "GPS Accuracy Filter". The higher these values are, the less accurate your position reporting will be, because it won't make the call to update your position as often.

On another note, if you decide to use the "Fixed" setting on "Location Update" and then you travel, you can simple press the "Update from current location" bar and it will force a quick update on demand.

    I hope this helps.

It's a tweak that pulls your location and weather data just like Apple does and puts it in an xml file to be read locally. Because I'm using the stock weather data, it is very reliable and can be very accurate in determining your position. The current version is WidgetWeather2!

This all happens automatically and you never have to enter your zip code or WoeID etc. when you activate a widget or LS that uses WW2, it just starts working instantly, with nothing to edit to obtain your position.
