sorry but what about foldericons, still in the works?
or i have missed them somewhere?
Hi Meth. Nice setup. Thank you for your inspiration and support. I think you actually quoted the CustomFolderIcons a few pages back. Are you using that tweak, or "FolderIcons"?

It's really hard to support so many packages, and also hard for the users to discern between many packages (some that do the same thing for 2 different tweaks, like this instance). So I decided to un-install FolderIcons, and develop for CustomFolderIcons instead, as it alleviates all the stress on me with support emails asking for iP5s compatible images.

Consider the amount of batch mods planned for this tweak. It would be silly to add even more maintenance stress. All that would do is create incomplete packages and a big mess. I use CFI for these, because NO Iconomatic is needed (you can use it, but this is for people who can't run that tweak, like me). CFI (CustomFolderIcons), allows for the icon mask to be applied also, so by changing the shadow on my themes (via the included Alt Icon masks), you also match the FolderIcon shadows.

It's a pain because manual install and some name changes are needed on the files, but I simply have 2-3 separate sets that I cut&paste into the main CFI directory before I respring, and everything is set to go.

Sorry I can't help out. Thank you.

    :: Instructions ::
    • Requires CustomFolderIcons tweak. You can download by adding repo http://repo.fortysixandtwo.com/
    • Download the package from HERE, then unzip and copy the desired set of images to "var/mobile/Library/CustomFolderIcons/". Only one set of images is required, and some re-naming may be required to suit your specific folder names. Only the images are required, and NOT the sub folders that are there purely for splitting the colours.
    • "Apply Icon Mask" can be set to ON within the CFI settings menu, then re-spring to take effect. By Enabling the icon mask, your custom theme shadow will be applied to the icons.

well Luke you see,you say you can't help but you always do
i use foldericons tweak not CFI,this does not look bad at all. i really like that appmask, all icons look smaller, maybe i will springomize them to make them bigger a little to be more enjoyable for eyes
and maybe just take down foldericons a pixel or two in canvas and it will be just perfect, thank you a lot

BG layer size is slightly smaller.... I'm sorry for this also, but I did think considerably about this, and believe with the stock shadow options planned, it was a good compromise. I also have a glyph size of 80px (90px with the secret layer not yet seen), which is the same I use for nearly all glyph-based community contributions (even smaller for one well known theme), so you're still getting the same size image that counts (the glyph part) in the end.

Maybe you'll be happier once I release the Iconomatic set. Same glyph size, but no effects on the BG. Remember that this is more than just icons.... It's a pretty thorough theming platform, that I intend on releasing to the public. You won't have all my glyphs, but instead, a solid PSD, and PDF guide along with the action scripts and video tutorials. One tutorial is already live on YouTube, but it's unlisted, because at the time it was to show David how to run the scripts. The link is here and on twitter.

    Thank you.

I covered this extensively in Everyme recently, so I can perhaps share a little here, to maybe change your mind Also, I think CFI icons is compatible with iP4. I have a 4s, and it's working. I think that's what lured me to it. It has forwards and backwards compatibility, therefor eliminating the package maintenance on 2 separate folder icons doing the same thing. Multiply that by how many foldericon sets I have currently...then read my changelogs lol.... I already have maybe 4-5 hours sleep a day at best, so this current project is tipping to push me into the "no sleep" territory. I was kinda hoping that it would eleviate allt eh requests to bring the m! theme back, and also prepare for iOS8 and iP6+. I won't be getting anything other than my iPh4s for a long time.... trust me

These glyphs have been specifically made for the 80px size. Much care is taken to ensure that any vertical or horizontal lines "snap" to pixels, therefor creating crisp lines where possible. You'll find that most of the measurements are made with the iPad batch resize in mind, though it is impossible to make a user friendly automation process with some of these measurements in mind (considering 58, 80, 100, 152, 180px size outputs in the batch processing). With this in mind, I think they look rather pleasing to the eye, when compare to the storm trooper comparison below. For fun, I also re-sized the raster 120px PNG, to 152px and compared it with my method, and there's considerable difference

Click on the first image below, and the description says it all This is one way of making use of importing the shape layer into PS. Just so there's a bit of context, here's the icon. By importing the 120px "zigzag" shape, it ensures the inside elements are placed where you intended. Under the pixel grid, you can see geometry between pixels, and their adjacent matching counterparts. Cheers. Just so there's a bit of context, here's the icon.

Just so there's a bit of context, here's the icon:

Also, here you can see what I meant by geometry between the pixels and their matching mirrored pixels.
Because the vector path only passes through a certain percent of those pixels, it colours them a mixture of white and the blue underneath. The opacity of this white is determined by how much of the path passes through the pixel in question. If 70% of the path passes through the pixel, then that pixel is rendered about 70% opacity. Hope this helps to understand a little more. We know this more commonly as Anti-aliasing. Thank you.

And to further my point, here's the "before and after" of the storm trooper icon, before I fixed the 1px discrepancy on the alignment of the "grill" sections. Previous is on the left, and the new is on the right. Almost identical shapes are used, but more care is taken to align the shapes to pixels. If you zoom in on the image with a pixel grid showing, you'll see exactly what I mean Cheers

Thank you Alex. It means a lot, as single layer glyphs based on images with very strong lighting and contours, can be difficult to create.

Just finishing up dinner, and going to update the iPad Beta. Are you still running classic dock? If not, is anyone else on iPad Retina running classic dock? Thank you.

Page 1, post 8 has been updated with the glyph icon details.

Just to clear up a few things. This was firstly intended to suit the users who (like myself) can't run iconomatic. I apologize and deeply regret releasing this set first, and should have just released the non masked versions. In my defense, I did on numerous times state very clearly what my intentions where here, and they did NOT include the use of iconomatic. This is for the people who realize that there's limitations with iconomatic, and batch processing can overcome these in a relatively convenient method (if enough thought goes into the process). Also, adding my sunken overlay to an iconomatic, would destroy detail of the glyphs, and remove contrast that defines/blends edges and styles. More for the purists than anything else. I can't offer anything in the way of glyphs that hasn't already been done.... but I can change the way we use them

    Thank you.
