I'm still having battery drain issues with the version off Cydia.

Apparently the updates are not my friends. After this last update I lost my weather information. It just says "no weather data". Ideas?

No battery drain here. So it's not an issue with Convergence. Some other tweak you're using (maybe in combo with Conv.. but not directly caused by Conv).

You'll want Background App Refresh enabled for Weather.app - Apple is a pain and prevents me from getting weather data if that is off.

It looks like iHaz3 has packaged his theme badly for Convergance's Thin theme. As a result, his package is trying to overwrite the Icon.png of the Thin theme. Annoyingly, renaming the Thin theme won't work as dpkg still believes the file is still there, and so prevents installation. The best thing to do is to contact iHaz3 via email or PM, and ask him to move to Convergance's theme model, as simply changing the images in a default theme such as Thin will cause installation issues.

Those that have emailed me recently, sorry for not getting back to you. I'm going to be spending a couple of hours replying to everyone in a bit.

Bummer.. That's a HUGE battery drainer and it conflicts with WidgetWeather running correctly. You're gonna need to find a way around requiring BackgroundApp Refresh, Matt. Wish I had better news. I've done extensive testing with WW with BackAppRef on and off. With it on - WW can update as much as 50% less often. That would be a deal breaker for me.

I've had background refresh on always and WW updates fine for me

I've had it enabled since I first created the weather widget that doesn't need WW, and I've not noticed any further battery drain. In fact, my battery life is currently better than on iOS 6!

In what way does it conflict with WW?

I explained it in my last post, Matt. It causes WW to update "less often".. rendering the Distance Filter and Accuracy Filters useless. With BAR on I can travel thru 3 towns and it not update. As soon as I turn it off WW updates for those three towns.

Just turn it off and watch how much battery you get back..

Of course it all depends on which switches you have on in that window. GPS items eat up a lot more battery than just leaving the one on for Apple weather.. But leaving every switch on is a drain. Apple's own tech notes make mention of it. So it affects everyone - but to varying degrees of course.

Convergence settings > Background > Advanced > Hide lock screen clock (on)

Pretty sure I figured out my issue ( CustomLS) which I didn't need anyway.

So what are we saying is the best as far as background app refresh. Mine is off to save battery.

Also, Smart Close works with Convergance. Just requires you to be much finer with your activator action.

    Great job Matt.
Thanks a lot to Sk37cH, DjeTouch, Alfroggy, Maxone, Jusephe and Meth. My phone would be boring without them.

I'm gonna do some new testing with B.A.R. and WW and Convergence.. Don't want to unduly worry people. My tests were done some time ago now.. I gave King and Durben all my results and they noticed same issues with B.A.R. on with WW.. So let's start a new round of tests.. for battery drain and conflicts with WW updating at the intervals set by Distance and Accuracy filters.

Thanks, I'd be interested to hear your results! If needs be, I can control the refresh rate within the widget, so I don't mind adding in an option to change that if it helps to improve battery life.
