Thread: Convergance: A bold new direction

Oh good to know I'm not the only one that is noticing a battery drain

  2. #1302
My personal opinion is that smart Tap is really something that is only required if you've home or sleep button issues. Otherwise it's an unnecessary luxury. I don't know why you can't get it to work because in my case it worked fine and koh is correct using smart tap will always rain battery faster there's nothing can be done about that.

Sure, post them! If you don't mind too, maybe Matt will put them on his repo too!?!?

More info on battery/hotness of iPhone. Today I went to a softball tournament I actually felt the heat of my phone through my jeans. I disabled Convergance and went with GroovyLock and it went completely away. Again, I think this is probably due to a variety of tweaks I have, but it's info nonetheless.

I get that, and I think others do too, but I also think it's reasonable, perhaps even fair at this point, to suggest that there is something else involved. Each person is a data point and there are several now confirming very hot phones and lot of battery drain.

It's also reasonable to suggest that people would not believe a tweak would cause significant battery drain, or else it would be unusable.

I've stated multiple times I'm sure it's due to some tweak or multiple tweaks. I've also, as others have, simply said what was happening to their device, which is the purpose of a beta.

Yesterday when I reported, I was content to use Convergance as I didn't see it as a big deal, but after feeling the considerable heat coming from my phone, I will wait for an update to try again.

I appreciate all the work people do for this fabulous tweak.

The tweaks I have are Auxo 2, color keyboard, winter board, zeppelin

  11. #1307
I kust want to be clear in that i was only referring to the Smart Tap tweak that has to drain battery because it needs to have the screen constantly "listening" for it to work. There is no fix for this.

If Convergance is causing some additional drain and hotness, we will definitely continue to trouble shoot it.

Also, I don't want anyone to think I've taken over Matt's thread here. I know he's busy and I'm just trying to field questions/requests etc so that everyone knows that they are being heard. I know it can be frustrating when you post and no one acknowledges it.

These tweaks also have a bunch of dependencies. If you look in Cydia under manage/packages, you will get the real amount of tweaks installed.

Thanks for helping out Brian, really do appreciate it hugely!

Alright, so, this battery drain then. Those with it, do you find it usually starts getting bad after checking a notification within Convergance?

It's possible, but I'd say probably not. Today, for example, the heat just seemed to start from out of nowhere. I can't recall if I had any notifications on my LS when I checked, but I don't think I did. I also hadn't had my phone out of my pocket in about an hour, maybe longer. I had experienced some noticeable heat increases since installing this, but not like today. It was really, really hot. Almost as if I'd been playing a game on full brightness for over an hour. Super hot.

Prior to today, I'd wondered if it might have something to do with BiteSMS, but I'm less worried about that now. I have considered uninstalling and going with Auki to see if that would make a difference. Anyone have any experience with Auki? Worth giving a shot? Bite has always seemed like overkill for my needs so a loss of features wouldn't be a big deal to me.

The over heating has stopped since I removed it. The time when it started to over heat was when I pulled my phone out from charging. I wake up. Pull my phone out of the charger, I get a text, text back, get a text, text back and then I will stop. I put my phone in my pocket and it will start to over heat and then my battery will drop.

Ha bro! Can you tell me where do I put it in iFile I cannot find it or why not just make it a update! 😬🙏

  24. #1315
Yeah, I noticed SmartTap wasn't working because I had HTML background on, even though I'm not using one. Once I turned it off it worked. But before I even installed SmartTap I've been noticing my phone getting really hot at times and battery draining more than before. Plus my phone gets stuck on the wallpaper often, although this has been going I for a while. I feel like I'm the only one. At time when I get a notification, my screen either goes black, but you can see it's still on, because you can see the edges of the screen, so I have to restart Convergance by holding the sleep button. When I do that, it either restarts Convergance like it should, or it unlocks my phone and opens up a random app. Also, sometimes when I get a notification, my background just stays there with nothing on it, not the clock not the half circles on the side. So I have to restart Convergance. Has anyone had something similar to that happen?

I'm going to talk to Matt and if he doesn't mind, we will package them up and pot them on his repo. Then add them to his repo. This way they show up in Cydia as addons. Put them here:

    Library/Application Support/Convergance/Themes

One last thing, when reporting a bug, please list what device and firmware that you are running. If anyone crashes, please email a syslog and a crash report through Cydia to Matt.

    Thank You!

I did see where Auki was updated today and it fixed high CPU usage that was causing the device to heat up. Not sure if anyone having this issue is also running this tweak or not. Just FYI.
