I'm still having a hard time on the iPad 2.

If i add icons to the icons directory, they look big. See Reeder.

The icons that come in the icons folder are 59x60px as opposed to 118x120px that the psd makes. I can reduce the pixel size, but the icon is not nearly as sharp as the icons for the stock apps. See Echofon vs Mail/Safari.

The stock app icons are in the folders directory, and are 118x120px, but I can't get anything new there to work at all.

add the name of the icon to end with: @2x

I tried name.png, name-72.png, and [email protected] in the icons folder. I also tried icon.png, icon-72.png, and [email protected] in the name.app folder in folders. The only time the icon would change was with name.png in the icons folder, and that only worked properly with the low res icon.

no double png. I was able to get Reeder to change with icon.png in Reeder.app folder, but it gets the gloss layer applied. I have tried several others with no change at all. I've double checked all the naming.

Winterboard loading screen if not mistaken is replaced directly into the folder where application installed. However, if someone can confirm it does not mess up.

Note: I have noticed that loading screen inst. appeared no more than 1 second. I have no idea why.

no bro, what I remember is that the loading screen Winterboard not placed inside a theme folder in the application itself is installed where, but let's do something before you let someone else confirm exactly how things are for them not to mislead

I've done some research, and apparently iPad icon replacement via bundles or folders is a pain. I read this on another board.
Icon naming is a very picky thing with the iPad. Doublecheck the name of the icon in the actual application file. For example, to find the proper name for the WinterBoard icon, look in (in iFile) the file: /Applications/WinterBoard.app.

You've got to make sure both the icon is named correctly and that the folder you place it in is named correctly. You can't go with "standard" or "conventional" naming - or by what other icons are named. You've got to use the icon name that the application uses - else it won't work. I have found there is zero consistency in icon naming...

For example, the Winterboard icon is titled icon.png and it's located within the folder com.saurik.WinterBoard (you can find each folder name by looking at the CFBundleIdentifier name within the application's .plist).

Once you have the correct icon and folder name, then you can drop it in the .../Bundles part of your theme.

To continue with the WinterBoard example, your file address for the icon will be: var/stash/Themes.xxx/Glass Orb_iPad.theme/Bundles/com.saurik.WinterBoard/icon.png

Note that you'll have a bunch of folders in the Bundles folder of the theme. That's cause they all have to be in their own folder - the icons can't be in Bundles alone (man, I hope that sentance makes sense!).

I've noticed that sometimes I have to (1) respring, (2) reboot or (3) check on/check off the theme (respringing in between) for the change to take affect.
For the example of Echofon, I had to create a folder in bundles called net.naan.TwitterFonPro or a folder in folders called TwitterFonPro.app. The original app folder had Icon.png, [email protected], and Icon-iPad.png. I had to place 2 icons in the folder for it to work, which were [email protected], and Icon-iPad.png. The gloss layer is still added, and I can't figure out how to remove it. I created a new .theme folder to test this all in.

Edit: I found this link that also gives useful info.

Insta***US doesnt have a default loading screen in the actual application folder. I would imagian one would work in there if one was created and placed there though.

I got so tired of trying to replace the PKGBackup appicon that i just replaced the origonal in var/stash/applications. Didnt bother me to do that beacuse I hated the default icon so much

Thank you so much, I try to browse to the folder inside the theme and while waiting for confirmation for what you wrote.
Strange, because in the original Loadingscreen theme were only 2 images named Default.
Anyway, thanks for everything and wait and see what to write.

    Regard

    Marco
