Thread: Proper Stock Icons

    Default Proper Stock Icons
Ok so we all know the AppIconOverlay.png file doesn't work properly. Even Apple's stock overlay doesn't cover all appstore apps (i.e. not all apps you download have a consistent gloss effect as the stock icons do).

If you didn't know by now, themers are implementing the "overlay" effects to their icons via the AppIconMask.png and AppIconShadow.png, thus rendering the overlay useless.

What I have done (Irrelevant as it may be considering basically no one uses the default theme for their idevices) is create a proper AppIconMask.png and AppIconShadow.png that give all appstore apps the same gloss as the stock icons do (rather than just looking flat).

    As you can see below:

In other words the effect the AppIconOverlay.png "should" have done is no made through the mask and shadow shown below.

I have attached a psd file for anyone who wants to use it.

Again, I understand this may seem pointless but I wanted to do this because I a working on a theme that slightly changes the default icons rather than having new effects like borders or gloss effects and needed a consistent base.

Anyway... might be usefully for one or two people =]
