Default [BETA INSTALL] Pear OS X Leopard 10.5.3

IF YOU CAN'T WAIT FOR THE FINAL VERSION.....
    HERE'S THE BETA
PLEASE ONLY ASK INSTALL QUESTIONS HERE. SKINNING OR OTHER QUESTIONS LINK IS BELOW

    THIS IS THE LINK

I hope when you read this you won't be scared too much.

But this is what i reccomend you to do when you set up this theme in beta version...

I just wrote this while I did this on my iPhone

This is going to be tricky, but I'll make it as short as possible and lead you the fastest way through this setup.

depending on the download times this complete guide can take up to 2 - 4 hours

I will describe "one way" to set up this theme perfectly.

    step by step....

    every step...

I advise you to do exactly as follows because other procedures or apps could crash your iphone doing this kind of setup.

You don't want to end up with error 1011 like I did. Luckily I managed to repair the baseband to fix the problem.
If you end up with having to do a reboot and have a problem with ERROR messages please post them in the thread because most likely someone in the forum (if not I) can help you

How to Install Pear OS X Leopard 10.5.2

This is exactly what I did ( I am writing this as I am doing this)
    You need

    "Pwnage Tool"

    "Cyberduck"
    (WinSCP, Fugu)

The Pear Leopard Folder with the information (you don't need that yet only the stuff attached to this post) CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

use bosstols on your iphone to move all files to another partition

    Ready?

    Set.

    Go!

    ---------------- first step ---------------------------

    Adding your firmware and Bootscreen

    1. Reset your iPhone with iTunes
    2. Use "Pwnage tool" (winpwn) to create your own firmware using the icons in in the Folder "Bootscreen"

    these:

-----only installer needs to be added

    3. Pwn your iPhone with that firmware

Do you like the new bootscreen?

    ------------------ 2. step ------------------------

    Installing the the basic applications

    4. Open the installer (update if needed)
    5. Add source: "iappcat.com/r/6828"

(this is my repo which includes almost everything you need and they will always show up in front, which comes in handy later on)

    6. Refresh sources
    7. Install in this order:

    -fake BSD Subsystems
    -Cydia Installer.

    8. go to "cydia"
    9. refresh sources
    10. do the essential updates that are recommendet

    12. go to installer

    13. install

    -Kate 1.3

    14. OR.... install

    -Summerboard

    -suid lib fix

    -term-vt100

(i know this is unusual but is needed for some extra opions in this theme (example: having 3 different icons set to one application)

    15. Restart iPhone
    16. Apply "Kate" without uninstall and without System Fonts (really not needed)
    17. Restart iPhone
    18. go back to "cydia" and install:

    -openSSH
    -Categories
    -Poof

    19. Restart iPhone to make sure everything is running smooth.
    20. go to" categories" =>Config and set:

    -Allow hide icons OFF
    -show assigned apps ON
    -Use Background image ON
    -left right scrolling ON
    -hide last row OFF
    -Title at bottom OFF
    -Hide title ON
    -Hide icon titles ON
    -rubberbanding OFF
    -Summerboard themes OFF
    -NoPlistprotection OFF

    21. click done and close "categories"
    22.go to cydia and install:

    -boss prefs
-converter (or convert.... the one you like better)

    -jiggy runtime

    -myebay
    -pocket touch
-respring (the language mode... 2nd from the 2. it resprigs without locking the screen...niiiccceee)

    -websearch
-wedict (+ the language packages desired...don't over do it and use max 5 or 6 packages)
    -wetool
    -wiki2touch

    23.
    quit installer and restart iphone

    24. go to installer here youcan also install stuff that didn't work for you on cydia

    ---Category: 0PEAR utilities -> install:

    -HWinfo
    -ireboot

    ---Category:0PEAR settings

    -extended preferences

    ---Category:0PEARgames

    -islots

    25. stay in installer and go to All packages

    search for

    -----"iPod2"

    and

    26. go to Homescreen an then push the icon "iPhoneHome" and set it to "respring".. this will come in handy later on....

now when you press the hombutton twice the iPhone will respring without locking

restart iphone (you can use ireboot (reboot iphone)

now the installations are done and we can move on to the next step.

    ------------------ 3. step --------------------

    making categories:

add following categories. (you can choose any icon because they will be changed later on, or add blank icon to /Applications/Categories/Icons/... second way is a little bit faster but I will do it later on since ALL Icons will be set to blank (only on default... this is where the 3 icons per app come in handy)

I tend to take the fist icon in "Categories" (retro apple)

    - 0
    - 1
    - 2
    - 3
    - 4
    - Stacks
    - Applications
    - Settings
    - User
    - Utilities
    - Games
    - Dashboard
    - MacintoshHD
    -Finder

    (check correct spelling and topcase lowercase. A=A ... a=a ... A≠a)

    exit categories and restart iPhone

    ------------- 4. step --------------------

    Setting up the springboard

    Finder - Safari - 0 - ireboot
    Poof - Dashboard - 1 - 2
    Text - Mail - 3 - 4
    Videos - Music - Utilities - User

    Go to Settings
    => RIp DEV
    => FACELIFT
    => switch 5-icons Dock "ON"

    Restart your iPhone

    Setting up the Dock

    Respring - Stacks - PocketTouch - Phone - MacintoshHD

    -------------------- 5. step -------------------

    Finally adding the skins:

    SSH into your iPhone

Add the Folder attached to this post to:

    /var/mobile/Library/Summerboard /Themes

    then go to
    =>Settings
    =>RiP Dev
    =>FaceLift
    =>theme
    => Leopard 10.5.1

press Home button 2 x (if you used iphoneHome to set it to respring)

now it should look like this:

    ---------- 6. step

Add your Wallpaper and the next set of icons.

Sync with iTunes and use any Wallpaper you like

Just remember to have it in landscape

    go to:
    settings
    RiP DEv
    Facelift
    THEME ->
    WALLPAPER OFF
    DOCK ON
    STATUSBAR ON
    ICONS ON

Now take the icons from the attachement and put them in

    /Applications/

(in every single .app folder) blank icon goes in 0 - 4

All folders in Applications that I made an icon for (more coming)

    Now it looks like this:

    wallpaper download click this text

I am updating this step by step.....

more to come.. just check this post if you are interested in the setup...

    Pimp different

this setup needs to be very clean...
the beta is not fully clean but works fine for unpatient modders....

after that you are up to yourself to further install anything...

What you see here is not even half of the stuff you need to do when this thing is ready...
since there is no possibility (YET) to install a complete setup you need to do every step manually..

    love it
just an idea to throw in the works,
camera on desktop, like if you plug your camera into a mac and it mounts on the desk top.
could be a nice way of working the camera for quick use.
amazing work thou, can wait to see it develop

This is easily the most complex, complete theme available for the iphone/itouch! Congratulations! Unfortunately, the installation process seems daunting even to experienced users, if not merely very time consuming.

This is pretty much a permanent theme. I'm not sure I like that idea as I like to change my themes out often. Overall, this is amazing work though.

Nobody said it would be easy to change the world....

But people told me it could never be undone...

    ...who cares

The Final version will be easier to install (and somehow changable)

I wrote the instructions above while I did this (it's not a totally clean install)
I will also make some packages that can easily be added (the whole category stuff)

Just be careful with having summerboard and kate installed

One problem I see is that people are going to struggle with the need to used Kate. People will refuse to pay.

Would be good to see this made into a custom firmware and shared on torrent sites. That way people could just restore to this. =] Just an idea.

Or a package on installer that does it for you. Similar to (although I haven't tried it) the VistaPerfection installer.

I really wanna try this, but I don't really want to restore or mess up my phone how it is at the moment...
The instructions need a little refinement.

EDIT: Oh and by the way... I'd don't like the dock shown in the final version concept... Its much better how it is at the moment... More spread out. Is there a reason for it being like that?

I just wanted to make it more original...
I hate the fact that it's raised up a little..

I might go back to the old look...

but 1 icon has to go... so I'll put quicktime and itunes into one app again...

and the icons will rise above the dock again...

but right now I had another ERROR

the touch function didn't ork in apps (again)

this ocuured when locking the screnn , so I# a little worried about using summerboard AND kate...
