Apple and IBM recently unveiled three new MobileFirst enterprise applications for both iPhones and iPads – all of which cover a range of industries and provide various practical uses. The three new apps are titled: Advisor Alerts, Passenger Care and Dynamic Buy.

Advisor Alerts is said to offer push notifications for matters such as account maturity, market news and transaction approvals. The alerts allow advisors to respond to urgent issues as they arise.

Dynamic Buy is an iPad only app that is centered around a main dashboard interface with performance metrics including top, bottom, year-over-year, and performance-against-plan figures. By making it easier to track data, retailers should have an easier time deciding how to adjust inventory.

Passenger Care is another iPad only app that is intended to be used by customer service agents who can not only check in passengers while they’re in a line but also monitor which lines are the longest. If by chance there is a delay or cancellation, the app can help provide vouchers, alternate flights, temporary accommodations and even lounge access. Other functions include the ability to track seat demand, which can also be used to sell discount seat upgrades and the ability to notify agents of impending problems such as storms.

For those of you who are unaware of the whole initiative, Apple and IBM originally revealed an initial 10 enterprise apps in December, an additional one in January with more apps set to be rolled out in the coming years. Eventually the number of apps set to be released will surpass a total of 100. IBM is responsible for the deployment and integration of the apps with Apple’s aid in the apps’ development coupled with support for both IT departments and end users via AppleCare for the Enterprise. IBM will fill in the role of on-site support where needed. The move as a whole is one Apple initiated in an effort to gain a larger share of the enterprise market – a move which seems to be working thus far.
