Default iPad 3 and iPad Mini Get AT&Tís Prepaid GoPhone Service

Prepaid wireless service for smartphones on the AT&T network, now works with cellular capable first-generation iPad Minis and third-generation iPad with Retina displays- also known as the iPad 3. It was announced by AT&T recently that select tablet model owners can now buy cellular data on a month-to-month basis. All you have to do is choose an available plan, insert a GoPhone SIM KIT card in the SIM tray and you’re set to surf the web at LTE speed.

By purchasing a GOPhone card or tying a debit or credit card into the account, you have a choice of the $15, $30, $50 buckets with 250MB, 3GB, 5GB of high-speed data per month respectively.

The following tablets are compatible with this new feature: the Asus K005, Asus (TF300TL) Transformer Pad, Google Nexus 7, iPad 3, iPad Mini, Lenovo IdeaTab (A2107A), Pantech Element (P4100), Samsung Galaxy Camera (GC100), Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 (SGH- I467), Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1” (SGH-I497), Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (SM-T217T), Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0” (SM-T217A) and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9” (SGH-I597).

There has yet to be any mention of the iPad Mini with Retina display or iPad air with this feature. Hopefully, AT&T will add support for these 2 devices soon. The GoPhone is great for people who don’t want to purchase a device. All you have to do is bring your own tablet and activate a plan. This option has no device installments or annual contracts, only a month-to-month data service that can be cancelled at any time. The only thing you have to remember is to ask your device to be unlocked if you plan on bringing one from another carrier.

If you are interested in this great option, just check the supported device list and review the GoPhone plans on the AT&T website.

Way too much for way too little. Pass again. You provide unlimited data for $30 a month and I'd be interested. Beyond that you're wasting my time.

I have the FREE 200 MB from T-mobile. Why would I pay $15/month for 250 MB???
