Thread: installing mywi on the 3g ipad

Default installing mywi on the 3g ipad
Anyone managed to get it to work?
I am not talking about using mywi on the iphone to give 3g service to the ipad.
I am talking about setting up the 3g ipad to share its 3g data plan with my macbook.
Some people here have reported that some versions of mywi when installed on the ipad will crash their ipad.
If you manage to get mywi to work on the ipad can you tell me which version or versions you are using and any tweaks you need to make in order to get it to work. Thanks guys!

I got it from rock your I used to be in Cydia but the creator of the app got kicked out of cydia. Long story short it was working but there was an update and after that only the USB tether works no wifi or Bluetooth. This really sucks being I spent $9.00 for it.

Here's what I did for MyWi on iPad 3g:

    Install SBSettings (BigBoss repo)
Install MyWi (NoRock extensions, v3.4.3 seems to work)
(if necessary) respring using SBSettings to fix iPad UI (known MyWi problem)
Disconnect from wifi network (not disable, just disconnect from network)
Enable Cellular Data (iPad Settings, if disabled)
Start MyWi and enable WiFi Tethering
Join the newly created Ad-Hoc network from your other device (notebook, PC, MAC, iPod, etc.)
(it took my windows 7 Netbook a minute to discover that the Ad-Hock network was internet capable)

When you are ready to stop operating a WiFi hotspot (i.e. quit)
Open MyWi and turn Wifi Tethering Off
    Reboot (SBSettings is easiest)
Respring (in SBSettings) to fix the iPad UI if necessary.
note: The Ad-Hoc network previously in use may still show up. Refresh your devices to be sure it is gone. It was still showing on my iPad after the reboot, but went away within a couple of minutes.

Hope that helps the -iPad- users who want to use their 3G on more than just the iPad!

BigBoss has a repository in Cydia. It is probably already installed if you are JB. Open Cydia and search SBSettings. It should be in there. If not, add the BigBoss Repository:
