    Default Installer 1.1.4 + ebooks + Main script exec??
    Forgive me if there's been a solution to this problem posted somewhere else, but so far I've tried everything I can think of. I've been trying to install ebooks (since I have books.app installed), but after downloading each one says "Main Script Execution Failed". I know there are a lot of threads written about this error message, but so far nothing I've read has been able to help.

    I don't think it's a problem with:

    1) Permissions. Because I ran a whole bunch of different chmod operations on the file and the folder, and they should have the right permissions now.

    2) Disk space, because I used BossTool and it says I have 29M free. The book I tried to install below was only 100 something K!

    3) Queue, because I've tried a thousand different combinations of clearing the queue, restarting Installer, hard-resetting the iphone, etc etc.

    Anyway, I ssh'd to my phone and ran installer, and got these error messages:

    $ /Applications/Installer.app/Installer

    Does anyone know what this might be about, and/or how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Default solved
    Ok so I did some poking around with ssh and found that there was a file in /var/root/ called Media. Here's what ls -l gives for it:

    -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 262144 Apr 14 22:57 Media

    which was apparently making it impossible for the Installer app to create a folder called Media for the eBooks. So I simply made a backup of that file:

    # cp Media oldMedia

    just in case it turns out to be important (is it? I hope I didn't break my iPhone by doing this) and then removed it:

    # rm Media

    And this solved the problem with not being able to install ebooks. And it only took me three hours to figure out.

    Thanks for a solution to this frustrating problem. However, I own a PC and am really confused how I would go about doing this. Please advise!

    There's a terminal emulator for PC that will let you run Linux-style commands, but I don't really know what it is I'm afraid (I upgraded from windoze ages ago). I think what you need to do is first to install the BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH on your iphone, then set up a static IP address, then use an SSH client on your computer to login to your phone via the IP address you set up. There's probably an easier way of just fixing the ebook issue without having to do all that, but this is the only way I'd know how to do it. It occurs to me now that there's probably a way to set up a symlink so that you don't have to manually copy files...

    Ok I found an SSH guide for windows: http://modmyi.com/wiki/index.php/SSH_on_Windows
