    Default iPhone 3GS Not Booting
    Hi Guys,

Im having an issue with my iPhone 3GS.

The phone shut off, and since then is constantly restarting after the Apple Logo.

Phone is not jailbroken, so totally confused as to why this has happened.

Have put it in DFU Mode and have been able to get it to the 'Restore' Section in iTunes but it is coming up with the error:

'The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the required build'

I have used iRecovery to change the boot settings and this hasnt fixed it.

I have even pointed my host files to point to 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com and used a seperate Update file to try and update the phone/downgrade and still no avail.

Any idea what could be up, and how to fix?

    Regards,
    Matt

whats the error code? And what itunes are you running? And what firmware you trying to restore too?

Hmmm. Id say manually download the firmware you are trying to update the iPhone to. You can download all firmware versions here in the download section.

For ease just save it to your desktop.
Then open up itunes and hold shift and select restore.
A window should pop up to let you browse for your ispw.(firmware)
Go to desktop and select the firmware.
    From there it will restore.

Let me know what happens. This is just a suggestion, it might not work.

P.S. I would also do this in DFU mode.
Make sure the screen is completely off when restoring.
Otherwise its not in DFU mode.

Good advice but if he is getting an error code there is usually something else going on such as usb, itunes,or firmware and he said he already tried dfu.
Once he gives us little more info it will be easier to assist

    Hey Mate/s,

    Cheers for the replies!

The error message in iTunes is just:

'The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build'

    No actual Error ID Number.

    iTunes: 9.1.1.12
I think the software trying to install is: 3.1.2

Just reconnected it all now, put it in DFU mode and tried again, exactly the same thing.
