Default Upgrading phone to new FW
Tried to restore and update phone when prompted on iTunes. It keeps getting error message that it can't restore phone.

Currently on 4.2.1, and trying to update to latest stock FW. Phone is now stuck with USB picture showing arrow pointing
    at iTunes symbol?

    What to do?

    Thanks

iPhone 4. Error is The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1013). I click OK. Attempts to contact the iPhone update server. Error msg: The iPhone software update server could not be contacted. iTunes then doesn't list iPhone. I unplug USB and re-plug. Error: iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.

I think the firmware before I tried was 4.2.X? Chance it could have been 4.1, I only updated the firmware once from when I bought in last september.

Error 1013 can also be fix by putting iphone into dfu mode and run fix recovery43. You have to close the error box and close itunes before applying fix recovery 43.

Do you have any other blobs ?

This fix recovery is not from TU but an exe file.

    blobs? no don't think so.

dfu mode is holding down home and power button right?

So i just run fix recovery 43 and put phone into dfu mode?

    Thanks guys!

Also, how do i update firmware then? Everytime i go through iTunes it fails at last minute...tried turning off my anti-virus...but still doesnt work

Use Tiny Umbrella to download your blob from Cydia. If you have used this device on TU before, then you should see your device on the left pane , request your blob from cydia , click save shsh .

Then , how do you restore to 4.2.1 if you don't know if you have any blobs ?

Im just trying to update to a new FW. I could never get it to work, so I tried to Restore phone through iTunes then update iPhone to newest FW.

I tried using TU, but it wouldnt save .shsh. Also tried exit recovery, and it just loops back.

Put phone into DFU mode, and error comes up _futil429366505612958760.exe has stopped working.

Can you restore to the latest first , 4.3.5

In TU, adv tab uncheck : set hosts file to cydia and close it , do your restore thru iTunes

Once you have restored to 4.3.5, run TU and request shsh blob from cydia. If you have 4.3.3 bliob, you put your iPhone into dfu mode, check mark : update iPhone 4 bb, set hosts file to cydia from within TU , start TSSserver.
Run iTunes : shift + restore to stock 4.3.3, this will avoid error 1013 and restore successfully.

Are you using the latest version of TU ? if you messed up ur iPhone by applying too many tools, TU won't do help, so the best start restoring to latest.

Tiny umbrella can be used to either point your hosts file towards cydia or apple server for verification of your restore.
Now you can plug in your bootable iPhone in , run TU and request shsh blob from cydia is checked , click save shsh ,wait for it to finish and look under general tab to see if you if any blob.

    Ive got 4.1, 4.2.1, 4.2b3, 4.3, and 4.3.5...baseband 4.10.01

Im guessing use 4.3 to Start TSS server? and JB using jailbreak.com or whatever it is?

Hopefully I can still JB, cause non-JB iPhone sucks! Wow, its pretty bad

When you downgrade to 4.3 , in latest TU select update iPhone 4 to avoid error 1013 .
