Default boot problem - iphone 3g - 4.2.1 tethered jailbreak
hey guys new here but there's a first time for everything yeah?

Well anyway what my problem is, is that i recently jailbroke my iphone 3g with redsn0w so that i can have the ipad baseband in order to use a different carrier. Now i have sorted it and the carrier change works. The only problem that i have id whenever i restart to turn off my iphone when it boots back up it goes into recovery mode (cable and itunes logo). The only way i can get back on my phone is by opening up redsn0w and booting the iphone tethered.

Now that's fine as the iphone works but i wnated to know if anyone knew how to fix it because if i'm out and i need to reboot my iphone i can't use it until i can get to a pc/mac with redsn0w installed.

    thanks a lot in advance

Why don’t you restore to stock 4.1 and get an untethered jailbreak.

Error 1015 can be kicked out by exit recovery.

don't you need a tethered jailbreak though so that i can use ipad baseband so any carrier can be used? also i thought you cannot restore back to original FWs after installing ipad baseband?

You cannot restore to stock firmware of 4.2.1 or higher with iPad bb, so 4.1 or lower is fine.

oh right. so what can i do with 4.1 to enable me to use all carriers?
could i revert it back, kick it out of recovery mode then go back to 4.2.1?

actually does it not matter what jailbreak i have as long as i have the ipad baseband?

Once you have restored to 4.1, jailbreak with redsnow 0.9.6 b6

Your iPad bb is not going to change and is unlock able with Ultrasnow

Once you arrived at emergency, if you have an official sim, let it trigger thru iTunes into SB and jailbreak it and install Ultrasnow to activate it thru ur carrier.

tried what you suggested in downgrading and for some reason it was very very laggy.
so i re-installed 4.2.1 onto my iPhone and the problem seems to have disappeared.

Bow i can reset and turn off my iPhone at anytime now with no worries at all!

Thanks a lot for your help, it really is appreciated!
