Thread: Frozen Iphone

  1. #1
    Default Frozen Iphone
I have an Iphone 3gs which ha frozen on me. I was uninstalling some apps when it happened. The phone is unlocked and jailbroken and now when I switch it on I cannot get in to any apps or even the settings or the icons wont even scroll and it just freezes. I have to hold the home and power together to restart it then it just freezes again and that keeps happening over and over. It looks like there might be some file or app corrupted. I hooked it up to Itunes hoping to restore it from a previous backup but the phone synced straight away so now when I restore it I am only probably restoring a corrupted backup. If I click the restore button I have to accept a software update 4.3.5 which I am told will lock the phone again.
Is this the only option I have or is there some other way to fix the phone.

Re-restore it to 4.1. Don't restore from backup or Anything.
    Download 4.1 Ipsw
    Shift restore in iTunes

From iTunes, ignore and dismiss any update it wants to do.
Instead press and hold shift, then click restore. A file select window opens, select the 4.1 firmware ipsw you just downloaded.

Edit your hosts file and remove all lines that contain 'gs.apple.com'.

Instead of editing the hosts file.... do this:

Run Tiny Umbrella, select the Advanced tab. Uncheck 'Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit', Exit TU.

If TU reports no errors, this should remove gs.apple.com from your hosts file.

Should not be necessary because Apple is signing it. But since it failed (error 3194), run TU + enable TSS server.

Same as before, but start TU + TSS Server first. Make sure no TU errors....
Connect iPhone, run TU. Start TSS server. Restore w/iTunes

The phone has gone into recovery mode also
