correct me if i am wrong.. i want to jailbreak my phone.. it has never been jb'ed before.. my only options are:

    -do a tethered JB

Do a tethered jailbreak with redsn0w if you want but iBooks may not work yet.

    worth it?
how much of a pain in the -- is it to connect to iTunes every time you power on?
is that the only time U need to? or do you need to when U install apps?
i get to use all the same stuff as non-tethered iPhone?

If your iphone needs a reboot , respring is fine. You will need a computer to boot it up , otherwise you will have a frozen apple logo on your screen until you get hold of a computer.

The only way to learn, experiment and gain experience is to do your jailbreak.

You can always restore back to the latest which is where you started from . But since you are a newbie or noob or beginners or clueless I suggest you wait until IOS 5 is released.
    No offence

Didn't you just bought this iphone 4 ? Iphone 5 will be much more difficult to jailbreak.
If you want to jailbreak at 4.3.5, i can guide you. I haven't done it but I can gain experience from helping you ...LOL

I bought mine around the same time too. Did you not start saving your blob when you first bought it?

Go download tiny umbrella, plug your iPhone in and click save shsh. You can see if you have any blob and cydia will also start saving for you.

At least 4.3.5 onwards will be saved without even a jailbreak.

In adv tab of TU, under request shsh blob, check it and click save shsh, then uncheck it and click save shsh. Then tell me what you see under general tab .
