Thread: Is Jail-breaking for me? . . . honestly?

    Default Is Jail-breaking for me? . . . honestly?
    Hey guys
Im new here, this is my first post, go easy on me
I am aware a lot of this stuff may be already answered but ive been doing searches and my main question still hasn't been answered.

Basically ive only just learned about jailbreaking, there are a few things like interested me such as the android lock, mywifi and a few other screen customising apps.

But apart from these i dont want my phone to change, i still want it to look and behave like an adverage iphone. I still want to be able to use all the apps and have a buy more the same way i do etc.

    So is it for me?

I have loads of pictures, apps, songs, messages etc . . . so will i be able to keep all of them or will i loose them?

I dont really want anything to change, i just want a couple of apps that i cant get without jailbreaking.

So is it really worth it for me, or is it gonna change too much?

    Thanks

    Jailbreaking is always worth :-)
U can get everything back by restoring from backup.. Also what firmware you on ? As it will decide whether or not you can have a user friendly jailbreak :-)

    Version 4.3.5

Is it actually possible to do with that version? Most seem to only do 4.3.3?

4.3.5 has tethered jailbreak ( u need to connect it to a computer everytime u wanna switch it on)

U know providing full details such as model and all helps a lot.

More than likely you are stuck.

However ..... Use Tiny Umbrella to get and save your SHSH blobs from both Apple and Cydia (via advanced tab). Miracles do happen

Could you elaborate on that? Like i said this is all pretty new to me.

In order to load any old iOS version SHSH blobs are required. Apple authorizes only the current version. Cydia, Tiny Umbrella, iSHSHit collect and save SHSH blobs when they are being authorized. You may get lucky and have old SHSH blobs saved. One way to test, run Tiny Umbrella and check. See the links below in my signature area.

    ahhh i see.

I just downloaded and opened Tiny Unbrella, its not showing ANY SHSH blobs, and the log is full of listings like this . . .

08/06/2011 17:26:46.449 For version [iPhone4 4.3.3 (8J2)] - This device isn't eligible for the requested build. 08/06/2011 17:26:46.454 CYDIA DOES NOT HAVE YOUR SHSH FOR iPhone4 4.3.3 (8J2) THERE IS NO WAY FOR YOU TO GET THEM. SORRY. YOU ARE JUST TOO LATE.

    I'm assuming that's not good :/

Nope. It means you cannot restore to 4.3.3 and being so new to jailbreaking I personally woudnt suggest jailbreaking to a tethered jailbreak.

  13. #13
Damn, i dont like the sound of a tethered jailbreak anyway :P

So does this mean i CANT do it ever, or i just got to wait?

    You just need to wait

For today, you must wait. We don't know what our jb'ing team will come up with next, but saving all SHSH blobs as they come increases the odds

I clicked "Save ALL SHSHs" and the loading bar is stuck at about 90% but nothing has appeared in the box :/

U gotta wait till we get an untethered which won't be befor iOS 5 .. Only if u had decided jailbreakinh 6-8 weeks ago :-)
Tethered are not user friendly jailbreaks and hence..

ahh so its probably a pretty long wait?

No one really knows. It's never fast enough for some and often a surprise for the rest.
