Default iphone 4 on 4.0.2 update, jailbreak and unlock
I've been reading all day and I'm getting a lot of conflicting information. I followed a Redmond pie vid telling me to make a custom 4.2.1 firmware and install that. I did but Itunes says the firmware isnt' valid of something. So here I sit. I saw these instruction here but they're a bit vague, can someone bail me out?

In order to install Custom Firmware on your iPhone, you need to put it in a pwned DFU state. Otherwise, iTunes will not allow you to restore from that.

If your on Windows, you can download iReb or use sn0wbreeze. If your on a Mac, use pwnageTool to put your iPhone in a pwned DFU state.

I meant putting the iDevice in pwned DFU mode. In some cases, you don't need a program to enter the regular DFU restore. I can even enter DFU without the program. It's all about timing in this process.

Without pwned DFU a restore to a custom firmware will fail. Regular DFU is not enough which is why those programs (I prefer redsnow to do it) are needed.
