Thread: 3G restore FAIL = nightmare

Exclamation 3G restore FAIL = nightmare
    iPhone 3G
Was previously jailbroken but I don't remember the firmware.
I do remember installing the iPad bb and using sn0wbreeze to create custom firmware.

I'm giving the phone to someone so I used the "clear all data and settings" option and the Phone is now stuck in recovery.
After about 60 hours of trying everything I know to get the original firmware 4.2.1 restored so I can jailbreak it, I'm still unsuccessful.

I mostly get error 1015, sometimes it just freezes during restore.
I've tried stock restore from iTunes, custom restore to stock firmware, custom restore to custom sn0wbreeze of 4.2.1
Just in case I was wrong about 4.2.1, I have methodically tried every previous 3G firmware before 4.2.1 all the way down to 3.0 with no success.
I have tried "fix recovery" in pawnage tool, irecovery, dfu mode, recovery mode.

I don't care what firmware I get to, I really just need it to run somehow some way.
    Thx

You cannot restore to stock 4.2.1 as you have the ipad bb. Nothing will kick out error 1015.
Put your iphone into normal dfu mode and then do the rest below
Restore to stock 3.1.3 fw, error 1015 will pop up, use Exit recovery to kick it out.
Jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.9.4 but browse to stock 3.1.2 fw ( you have to download as well)

If you want 4.2.1, you have to restore to cfw of 4.2.1 using snowbreeze 2.2.1

If this works I'm kissing you on the lips.

Is this method Mac-friendly? I have a pc at home but I'm away with a Mac only
